Guangzhou Daily invests in three new Goss Universal 75 presses to increase color printing capacity

Press release from the issuing company

April 25th, 2005 – One of the leading newspapers of mainland China, the Guangzhou Daily, has re-established its strong business relationship with Goss International by investing in three new Goss Universal 75 presses. Mr. Liang Hanhui, Chairman of subsidiary company Qingyuan Jian Bei Group, remarked, “Having fully explored other suppliers in the market, we decided to place our order with Goss International as they have always provided us with an excellent service. We have enjoyed more than a decade of durability from our existing Goss Urbanite presses since the 1990s, and believe Goss will continue to honor its reputation for supplying the best, most reliable presses on the market.” He continued, “The Goss Universal press range is proven in the market for high quality color reproduction and unbeatable flexibility. The new Universal 75 presses will not only offer us this, but also advanced levels of automation and the ability to pursue new contract print jobs and semi-commercial printing in the future. These features are critical assets to our production that mean we will be able to meet our publications’ demands for the finest color quality, highest productivity and streamlined efficiency.” The new shaftless presses will each consist of seven four-high printing towers, three folders and ten reelstands and will run at up to 75,000 copies per hour. Already the largest generator of newspaper advertising in China, the recent investment will enable the Guangzhou Daily to increase its color printing capacity by 28 broadsheet color pages to further develop contract printing opportunities. Dick Sutis, President of Goss International concludes, “We are delighted that the Guangzhou Daily has placed its trust in Goss once again, and we hope to continue our long and fruitful business relationship with them well into the future. Its decision to choose the most recent innovation in the Universal press series reflects our position as the leading provider of the most highly developed, reliable and productive presses available on the market today.” The Guangzhou Daily was the first newspaper group to be authorized by the central Chinese government and has expanded into a multimedia group company with full capabilities from editorial and publishing to self-distribution. As well as its main title the group also owns 14 other publications, with some titles circulating nationwide. It has printing centers across China including Beijing, Xian and Shanghai.
