Technik Leads the Way with Agfa's :Azura Plate System

Press release from the issuing company

Mortsel, Belgium – 20 April 2005 – Agfa announced today that Technik Ltd based in Berkhamsted, has become the first company in the UK to order the :Azura B1 chemistry-free plate system with :Xcalibur 45 CtP platesetter. This is another first for Technik. In 1998 it was also the first company in the UK to buy Agfa's :Galileo CtP system. When considering the purchase of a new plate system, Terry Walker, Managing Director at Technik, said that concern for the environment led to the decision to invest in Agfa's :Azura plate system with the :Xcalibur 45. The :Xcalibur 45 thermal platesetter has the power of HD-CTP – High-Definition Computer-to-Plate technology. The combination of :Azura running on the :Xcalibur will allow Technik to offer its customers the highest print quality possible while helping to maintain the environment. Founded more than 30 years ago, Technik Ltd originally concentrated on providing repro services to its customers. In 1997, it acquired Connekt Colour printers to expand its range of applications to include a digital photographic studio and web development services. Technik has been successfully using Agfa's platesetters for the last seven years. "What I really liked about the system was the chemistry-free plate," said Terry Walker, "The environmentally friendly nature of the product is very important for us because we want to be doing our part for the environment. It is also very pleasing that we no longer have to pack up all those drums of waste and arrange for collection." Walker also added that he trusts the quality of Agfa products and the dedicated service he receives from its Global Services division. "I know and trust Agfa and the quality of its products," Walker said. "Agfa runs its business in a way that I like and we always come back to them. If I call them on the phone about something that needs to be sorted out they will get an engineer out to us right away." "Companies like Technik have a clear vision on where they want to go in the industry. They are very eager to offer high-quality services and products to clients, and to support environmental concerns in significant ways," said Theo De Keersmaecker, Agfa's Director of CtP Systems Worldwide. "With :Azura there are no chemicals to control which leads to fewer remakes, better consistency and reduced maintenance. And the lack of chemicals means it's more sensitive to the environment."
