NGP Demonstrates Integration for Packaging Printers and Converters at CMM

Press release from the issuing company

CMM International, Chicago, IL April 18, 2005 – Networked Graphic Production is demonstrating its commitment to integrated workflow solutions for the packaging and converting market at CMM International, underway in Chicago from April 18-21, 2005. The theme of the show for the NGP Partners — Automation, Connectivity, Integration — tightly aligns with the overall message of the partnership. Networked Graphic Production is the industry-wide initiative that is focused on using open-file standards like JDF to automate the entire print production process — from idea to delivery. These new solutions enable printers and converters to boost revenue, reduce operating costs and streamline their production by integrating their prepress systems with other vendors’ management information systems (MIS), production planning tools, press, and finishing tools. Three NGP Partners, Vancouver, Canada-based Creo, DiMS! organizing print of The Netherlands, and Globe-Tek Corporation of Toronto, Canada, are demonstrating their NGP solutions at CMM at the Creo booth, # 3238. Creo is showing how printers can enhance their existing prepress workflow by implementing the latest versions of the Synapse InSite Internet portal into prepress and Synapse Link business integration software. These powerful value-add software modules integrate easily with the Prinergy Powerpack prepress workflow management system for packaging. This prepress production workflow is integrated with the business management workflow of both DiMS! organizing print and Globe-Tek Corporation. This comprehensive network enables packaging printers and converters to achieve greater automation, collaboration and productivity than ever before. “The NGP partnership was formed to show that integrated and connected systems can work with the co-operation of multiple vendors,” said Mark Wilton, NGP global marketing manager for Creo, and marketing chair, NGP Partners. “NGP is making excellent progress by moving into different segments in the print production process, including the packaging and converting market.” DiMS! organizing print is showing the benefits of automation, connectivity and integration at CMM. The DiMS! management system is built for label and packaging companies around a proactive workflow that ensures the seamless and automated flow of pertinent information, throughout an entire company including a multi-plant environment, as well as customers and vendors. This workflow is enhanced when other components of the packaging workflow are integrated by using open JDF transactions. “Digital workflow and declining print runs were identified by attendees of a recent US packaging show as key trends for the future,” said Chris Wood, vice president sales and marketing, DIMS! organizing print. “This being the case, the need to eliminate all non-added value activities is going to be key for all companies involved in packaging and converting.” DiMS! is demonstrating its label and packaging system at CMM with integration to the Creo Prinergy Powerpack workflow management system. Globe-Tek Corporation releases the latest version of GTEnterprise, its fully integrated ERM (Enterprise Resource Management) business solution at CMM. Since 1987, Globe-Tek Corporation has continued to lead the way in providing advanced, fully integrated business system solutions for the packaging, graphic arts and printing industries. Globe-Tek Corporation uses innovative design and development techniques that specifically target the many complexities of the diverse industry in a cost-effective manner. At CMM, Globe-Tek Corporation is focused on four important ERM characteristics that directly impact converter profitability: · Fit: Industry-specific knowledge, support and features · Flexibility: Agile response to changing standards, regulations, customer needs, and internal integration · Automation: Operations refined to the smallest number of unique steps required · Connectivity: Connection of disparate internal and external processes “We are excited to see the practical development and use of JDF standards through NGP for the packaging and label industries,” said Dave Melbourne, Globe-Tek business development executive. “Specifically, we see converters leveraging our NGP partners to create fully integrated packaging and label systems. We believe this will allow all customers to complete their software infrastructure with a minimum of business disruption.” See the prepress production workflow of Creo integrated with the business management workflows of DIMS! organizing print and Globe-Tek Corporation at the Creo booth, # 3238, at CMM.
