EFI Previews Next Version of Industry Leading Scheduling Software at Connect

Press release from the issuing company

Miami - June 13, 2005 - EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, is previewing the next version of its award-winning PrintFlow dynamic scheduling software for attendees at Connect 2005, the printing industry's largest user conference taking place through June 15th. A significant new Internet-based remote-view capability is just one exciting feature that has been added to version 5.0. EFI PrintFlow is an add-on module to EFI Logic SQL, EFI PSI and EFI Hagen OA print management systems. PrintFlow allows printers to dynamically schedule jobs throughout the manufacturing operation by automatically identifying the optimal path for each job based on the available resources, current workload and delivery schedules for all jobs. It is a powerful system for controlling and scheduling all equipment, old and new - coordinating the entire printing process from inception to delivery. PrintFlow also includes a unique "what-if" scenario generator that provides complete visibility into the potential impact of changes to the printing schedule such as adding new jobs, accelerating a delivery request, temporarily losing a work center, or adding a shift. Version 5.0's new browser-based remote-view capability improves accessibility and efficiency by offering several popular PrintFlow graphical scheduling recaps and reports in a web browser for access by both Mac and PC users. Version 5.0 will also include a smart viewer option that provides "full-featured" Internet-based access to all PrintFlow views using special software drivers. These new Internet-based options will provide key personnel with remote, real-time access. Said David Baldree, WorkFlow Manager at Progress Printing Company: "We're driven to implement better ways to push information out to our sales force, management team and customers. This exciting new Internet tool in PrintFlow will allow us to achieve our core goal in our workflow management center, which is to communicate, execute, and control the workflow process internally and externally. PrintFlow tools allow us to be at the leading edge in our industry." Other key additions are Critical Dates and Employee Constraints which provide more robust scheduling options. The schedule will take into account critical dates for steps such as proof approval, paper delivery, etc. and even provide warnings if a date is missed. The Employee Constraints feature shows where and when employees are needed, helping to identify staffing conflicts. "In today's world where cutting costs and increasing efficiencies are so crucial to the survival of a company, tools like JDF and PrintFlow are becoming a must for managing a successful printing business and maintaining profitability," said Udi Arieli, Director of Product Management, EFI CIM Products. "The strong new features and enhancements in version 5.0 will further position PrintFlow as the center of an intelligent enterprise-wide management solution, enabling users to achieve better performance and increased visibility that drives greater production efficiency across their entire operation."
