EFI Advances PSI Management System Functionality with Data Collection and Flexo-Specific Quote Modules

Press release from the issuing company

Miami – June 13, 2005 – EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced its powerful PSI? print management information solution now has a browser-based data collection tool, called EFI MyDC, and a new quote module designed for flexo customers. EFI PSI is one of the industry's leading MIS systems designed for the growing commercial printer with sheet, web and/or flexo equipment, providing modules for estimating, quoting, job management, shop floor data collection, inventory and purchasing. Launched recently with version 11.2, MyDC adds to the PSI data collection options already available with more robust features that make data collection easier and less time consuming for shop floor personnel. Running on a standard web browser, MyDC improves the speed and accuracy of data entries, from Labor Process entry to Inventory Control – the streamlined user interface reduces the number of keystrokes required for data entry to an absolute minimum. The “online timesheet” is a key feature that places the production employee's daily activity in plain view throughout the day, and provides them with the ability to verify entries. The tool greatly reduces the front office administration effort required to keep costing and production accurate. Said Lee Heavlin, business analyst at PBM GRAPHICS, INC., ”The new MyDC streamlines the user experience to the minimum amount of data entry yet still captures the level of detail of the DC Station product. A perfect example of this is the way MyDC handles Lunch/Break type processes. With MyDC, a user can literally be running concurrent processes, take a lunch or break, and be back on the concurrent processes after their lunch/break with as little as 4 total clicks. Previous entries in DC Station would require up to 40 clicks to do the same task.” PSI version 11.2 also marks the debut of the new Flexo Quote module designed specifically for the needs of flexo clients. “The interface better meets the needs of flexo users by providing a much more efficient user interface with flexo specific terminology,” said Clay Horsley, EFI PSI Product Manager. “Behind the scenes, flexo specific dedicated code and data tables allow for a quicker turnaround on future flexo enhancements without affecting offset clients.” With the release of v11.2.2, PSI is optimized to work with the Fiery print controller (system 6 and higher), the world leading production servers for digital printing. With a one-way exchange between the MIS and Fiery, PSI is also interoperable with leading press manufacturers – such as Komori, MAN Roland and others – through an EFI JDF Connector that helps print businesses collect, share, analyze and respond to information in real time. Future releases of PSI will support a bi-directional JDF flow of data. PSI v12.0 on Display at Connect The next release of PSI, version 12.0, will be shown as a “tech demo” at Connect 2005, EFI's annual user conference taking place through June 15th in Miami. This release will include integration to Macola ES, the latest accounting package from Exact Software, and a selection of estimating, purchasing and inventory enhancements requested by the PSI user base. Beta testing will begin next month, and version 12.0 is expected to ship in Q3.
