Goss continues to build on Turkish market success

Press release from the issuing company

May 23rd, 2005 – Celebrating new orders for Goss press installations across the breadth of Turkey, Goss International continues to build a on its successful relationship with the Turkish printing and publishing industry in 2005. The latest orders for Goss Community and Universal press equipment reflect the ongoing confidence of existing customers in Goss brand products as they grow their businesses. Goss Community and Universal presses have long been the favorite of many newspaper groups in Turkey, with the current installed base totaling in excess of 500 Community units and over 225 Universal units. The new orders, as announced at Tüyap printing exhibition in Istanbul, from Hürriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik A.S. and Istanbul based printer, Uygun Basim, follow on from a series of installations at existing customer sites across Turkey in 2004. Among others, Goss Community press installations were made at Ankara based publisher Aydan Yayincilik San. Ve Tic Ltd STI (AYS) as well as a total of 58 Community units at three sites for Merkez Yayin Holding A.S., publisher of leading national daily Sabah. According to Peter Selby, Goss International Sales Director, the Goss Community and Universal presses have proved themselves as the preferred equipment where total dependability and high print quality is required for local production of the major Turkish national dailies time and time again. “In a country where timely distribution across rugged landscape is achieved through multiple smaller print facilities, the presses installed must be capable of printing consistently to the same standard as produced at the central plant. That’s why the Community and Universal are chosen by the largest media conglomerates time and time again.” The new announcement of 15 Goss Universal four-high towers going to Hürriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik A.S., a subsidiary of Dogan Yayin Holding, follows an order placed by Dogan in 2004 for a total of 21 Universal units. “There seems to be a pattern,” comments Peter Selby. “Our customers in Turkey reward good service with their loyalty. Good equipment, efficient installation and excellent support through our local agent mean that as our customers’ businesses continue to grow they come back to Goss. “Turkey has a worldwide reputation for its high quality color print, which makes us all the more proud to be supplying all the main players in this market.” In addition to the Goss Community and Universal installations there are a range of Goss branded products in the region, Goss HT70 presses are installed in Istanbul at The Star Media Group, Sabah Gazetecilik and Dogan Printing Centers, and Sabah also runs a Goss Colorliner in Istanbul. Goss Urbanite and Goss Mercury press lines also operate in the Turkish market place. The circulation for national dailies in Turkey is over three million, and nine of these newspapers have an average daily circulation of more than 50,000. Aside from the national circulated newspapers there are more than 700 local newspapers published either daily or periodically, and the daily circulation on these varies from 500 and 10,000.
