KBA-Metronic AG, an independent subsidiary of the KBA Group, will be displaying its univerSYS fully-automatic personalization system at CardTech/SecurTech 2005 in Las Vegas on April 12-14 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Metronic was recently purchased by the KBA Group in Oct. 2004. The univerSYS system produces individual cards that are customized with PIN numbers, barcodes, serial numbers, scratch-off fields and personal data. In addition, other applications such as special tickets for lotteries and competitions can be processed with the univerSYS. Products of value are provided with reliable protection from viewing by unauthorized persons. An integrated inspection system for recognizing serial numbers and PIN numbers, as well as an optional verifying element for scratch-off fields guarantees the highest degree of data security and production safety. The crucial advantage of the univerSYS is its modular design. Its adaptability to a variety of activities enables the system to provide flexible solutions for individual order quantities and to adapt to future quality and security requirements without any trouble. The five standard segments of the univerSYS are: separation, rotation, printing, hot stamping and stacking modules. The modular character of the univerSYS permits further units, such as a labeller or magnetic stripe encoder, to be integrated. The latter is a further new development by Metronic; its main area of application is for cash and/or credit cards, “gift cards” (customer loyalty cards) as well as membership cards with magnetic stripes. This year’s CTST 2005 focuses on two core competencies: security and transactions. SecurTech addresses every aspect of logical and physical access security. CardTech addresses every aspect of transaction technology that is linked to the use of identity technology. The conference goal is to create a breadth and depth of content that is better than any other conference on the same topic.
