Chambersburg, PA - April 7, 2005 - Vendors from Pennsylvania collectively obtained the largest amount of dollars from the Government Printing Office (GPO) during the 2004 Federal Fiscal Year, according to a new report released by consultant ABC Advisors. After placing second slightly behind Maryland in the previous year's report, firms in the Keystone State this past year pulled in nearly $56 million dollars in work ranging from quick copying to multi-million dollar projects. Pennsylvania also ranked high, placing second behind Kentucky, in the average amount of dollar volume by vendor at $607,845. Maryland companies produced $53,784,152 to rank just behind Pennsylvania in FY 2004 followed by California with $45,438,530. In all, the "Big Three" of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and California produced a combined $155,144,449 of work bought by the GPO during FY 2004, or 40.5% of the total $383,365,998 in work. The report was assembled by ABC utilizing data it receives from GPO. Rounding out the top ten in GPO winnings were Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Colorado. Any printer can register with the GPO to produce work. Jobs are either awarded individually, making it a prime market to obtain orders to place in commercial production holes, or on yearly or multi-year contracts that can help build consistent volume.
