Maryland Printer Expands Market Reach With Comprehensive Heidelberg Solution

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga., March 22, 2005 – Print media industry leader Heidelberg USA recently installed a comprehensive line of pre-owned press and prepress equipment at Wildes-Spirit Design & Printing, a print media firm located in White Plains, Md. The company installed the following remarketed equipment: a four-color Speedmaster CD 74 with coater and extended delivery, Prinect, a Stahl 90 eight-pocket saddlestitcher with cover folder feature and a Stahl B24 continuous feed folder. Installed in late 2004, the equipment has already nearly doubled the company’s throughput, significantly increased productivity and helped to streamline the entire printing process, allowing President and Owner Katie Stickel to realize her business goal of expanding into additional markets. “Since installing the Heidelberg equipment, we have seen our efficiency and productivity improve greatly,” said Stickel. “Because of the automation and additional capabilities on the machines, our makeready and washup times have decreased significantly and impressions per hour have gone up as well. With Heidelberg’s full-service solutions, the entire printing process is now seamless and allows us to move into more national markets.” Printing mainly marketing materials such as direct mail pieces, brochures and pocket folders, the recently installed equipment joins several other pieces of Heidelberg equipment in the shop including a two-color Printmaster PM 74 and a Quickmaster QM-46 with automatic plate loading. A long-time Heidelberg customer, Stickel said the company’s reputation for helping shops produce quality products and its level of service were primary factors in her decision to install the equipment. “Heidelberg machines have a proven production life much longer than any others,” said Stickel. “We knew that installing late model pre-owned Heidelberg equipment would benefit us greatly and allow us to be top-notch for decades to come.” Heidelberg’s pre-owned equipment is carefully checked and processed according to Heidelberg’s test parameters and stringent standards. After initial inspection, the machine is cleaned, refurbished as required. The result is a high-quality machine that will provide years of service. “We understand that buying brand new equipment is not always possible. Heidelberg Remarketed equipment is a great solution and can assist companies like Wildes-Spirit achieve their business goals and objectives while at the same time improve the bottom line,” said Henrik Engell-Jensen, Heidelberg’s vice president of Remarketed Equipment. Established in 1967, Wildes-Spirit Design & Printing is a mid-sized, print media firm with expertise in marketing collateral materials. With a primarily regional clientele, the company has an award-winning design staff as well as a complete mailing department to serve its clients.
