Lexigraph's Toolset Moves Jobs From VPS To PPML

Press release from the issuing company

April 16, 2008 -- Many of today's digital press users are finding that using a single brand of digital press is not a "one size fits all" solution for meeting the production needs of their customers.  For digital press users that have adopted a PPML workflow moving jobs between different brands of digital presses can be a simple task, but for many that make use of vendor-specific workflows such as VPS it is difficult, if not impossible, to move jobs between digital presses.  According to Todd R. Kueny, president of Lexigraph, Inc. this problem has now been solved for workflows using of VPS.

"Since March of 2007 theVarPS2PPML component of Lexigraph's Indium conversion toolset has been in production use," said Kueny, "this tool allows our customers to move jobs automatically and transparently between digital press brands without human intervention."   The tool, available for OS X, Windows, and Linux, is a simple command line server component that sits on the network between different brands of digital press converting jobs as needed.

Today's digital printers are finding that making money in digital printing often involves solutions that include a mix of jobs not well suited to a single brand of digital press. Job requirements such as roll-based finishing, production resolution, output quality, and automated stock control are often mutually exclusive features among digital press brands.  "Digital printers often make significant investments in workflow software.  Our conversion tools can help digital printers extract more value from these investments while expanding their offerings to include products based on other press brands," said Kueny.

Lexigraph has been in the business of providing digital print workflow solutions since 1998.  With customers in Europe, the US and Canada Lexigraph's workflow solutions touch virtually everyone's life on a daily basis through cell phone advertising, home improvement, newspapers advertising, direct mail, elections, id cards, and healthcare.  Other Lexigraph products include pdfExpress for variable data PDF solutions, Argon for off-line PPML proofing, JayLight for converting and manipulating Indigo RIP files, Krypton for managing and controlling jobs, RFM for managing RIPed digital assets, PPML conversion tools and Web-to-Print offerings.
