KPG Offers Customers Choice Of CTP Solutions At Nexpo

Press release from the issuing company

Norwalk, Connecticut, USA — Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) helps newspapers of all sizes find a computer-to-plate (CtP) solution that meets their needs at NEXPO 2005, March 19 – 22. Booth 3113 features KPG’s expanded CtP portfolio, which pairs the established KPG ThermalNews printing plate with the Creo Trendsetter NEWS platesetter and the new KPG VioletNews photopolymer printing plate with the ECRM NEWSmatic CtP platesetter. “The KPG VioletNews plate complements the ThermalNews printing plate, allowing us to provide customers with choices that best meet their applications and business needs,” said Rick Mazur, Vice President of Marketing, KPG. “These solutions can help customers increase efficiency to meet deadlines and deliver the color and reliability required in the competitive newspaper environment.” The KPG ThermalNews printing plate with Creo Trendsetter NEWS platesetter provides accurate, consistent, high quality imaging with high productivity. The KPG ThermalNews printing plate meets the rigorous demands of the newspaper industry, with virtually no dot gain at the plate level and run lengths of 350,000 unbaked, thereby shortening the printing process. Wide processing latitude and high processing stability provide flexibility and consistent, repeatable, high quality results. The KPG VioletNews photopolymer printing plate makes its North American debut at NEXPO 2005. Introduced in October 2004 at IfraExpo, the KPG VioletNews plate is a negative-working (write the image), high-speed plate for deadline-driven newspaper applications, combining ease-of-use, consistency and a productive option for entry level small to medium size newspapers. The KPG VioletNews printing plate with ECRM NEWSmatic CtP platesetter offers a turnkey solution that provides small to medium regional newspapers with the opportunity to make the transition to CtP. The ECRM NEWSmatic provides a reliable, simple flat-bed imaging technology to transport KPG VioletNews plates through the imaging device in a single straight pass. KPG will also show a technology demonstration of a user friendly solution for controlling the prepress workflow, NewsConnect, at NEXPO 2005. NewsConnect serves newspapers that require a limited number of operators to output film or plates on one or two devices for printing a limited number of editions on a single press in a single location. NewsConnect, a Java based browser client application run on a Windows 2000 operating system, gives users the ability to view and control the system across the Internet. NewsConnect provides interfaces to most common imagesetter and CtP devices, and offers page-furniture merging for CtP applications. Users can archive input and output data, as well as proof data by page/separation. Customizable templates are available for use with different output devices including film, plates and proofing.
