Press release from the issuing company

March 15, 2005 - Ghent, Belgium; San Mateo, California – Enfocus Software, the world leader in PDF quality management solutions for the graphic arts industry, announces Acrobat 7 and PDF 1.6 compatible versions across its product line. The yield of the combined Enfocus and Adobe technologies is the most powerful, automated solution for streamlining PDF-for-print workflows. Immediately available is the English language version of PitStop Professional 6.5, Enfocus’ flagship product. PitStop Professional 6.5 can be downloaded free at www.enfocus.com. Other language versions of PitStop 6.5 and Acrobat 7/PDF 1.6 compatible upgrades for Enfocus Instant PDF and PitStop Server are scheduled to become available in the following weeks and will also be available via free download. In addition, Enfocus’ OEM partners will now be able to integrate a PDF 1.6 compatible version of the Enfocus PitStop Library in their workflow solutions. “We have always strived to be compatible, as quickly as possible, with the latest version of PDF and Acrobat,” says Patrick Van Dam, Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Enfocus Software. “These new upgrades to all of our products, engineered specifically to meet graphic arts needs, will allow our customers to do much more than they could with just Acrobat alone.” The new versions will also check and correct on the newly expanded range of functions Adobe brings in its latest version of Acrobat, such as the use of OpenType fonts and new annotation types. The graphic arts industry has relied on Enfocus for quality control in its PDF workflows since 1999. In fact, Enfocus applications are installed in the vast majority of PDF publishing workflows worldwide, and today the company is the market and technology leader in PDF quality management. With this release of PitStop Professional, Enfocus also re-institutes one of its most heralded features: text editing of PDF files using embedded fonts . The licensing conditions of Adobe Acrobat 6 had forced Enfocus to restrict text editing in its PitStop Professional 6 version. As Adobe relaxed its licensing conditions for Acrobat 7, Enfocus was able to reactivate this feature. Julie Shaffer, Director, Center for Imaging Excellence, PIA/GATF, says, “Bringing embedded font editing back to PitStop Professional will have a tremendous, positive impact on the many thousands of Enfocus customers, worldwide, who rely on it. It is one of the breakthrough, indispensable features that has made PitStop a critical component of PDF-for-print workflows.” Enfocus Certified PDF Products: The Most Powerful, Automated PDF Editing; 1-Click PDF Preflight & Certification; and Superior PDF Quality Management The industry standard for PDF preflighting & editing: Enfocus PitStop Professional Throughout the ongoing series of Adobe Acrobat releases, Enfocus PitStop Professional remains the indispensable tool for every pre-print professional. Its ability to inspect and edit every individual object in a PDF, its automation through Global Change and Action Lists, and its unique, patent-pending Certified PDF Technology have proven to be genuine job-savers. Flawless PDF Creation: Enfocus Instant PDF Enfocus Instant PDF removes the uncertainty and technical complexity from the PDF creation process. No other application so intuitively and reliably creates Certified PDFs that comply with print or advertisement vendors’ specifications. Instant PDF uses Enfocus PDF Queues to guide the entire PDF creation process. Enfocus PDF Queues published on CertifiedPDF.net by printers, publishers, industry associations, and Enfocus can be directly imported from within Instant PDF. The built-in synchronization feature with CertifiedPDF.net guarantees that imported PDF Queues remain up-to-date, ensuring ongoing consistency with printer, publisher or industry association specifications. Automated PDF Preflighting & Auto-Correction: Enfocus PitStop Server Enfocus PitStop Server is the invaluable, stand-alone application for high volume PDF workflows. It streamlines multi-document preflight, auto-correction and large file processing. Enfocus Certified PDF technology is fully integrated into PitStop Server. Certified PDFs are immediately identified and moved through production faster than non-Certified PDF files. This allows pre-print operators to focus on those jobs that really need their attention. Connecting Creators & Receivers: CertifiedPDF.net CertifiedPDF.net facilitates the communication about PDF quality specifications, enabling document receivers (printers and publishers) to publish their PDF Queues and related documentation for easy distribution to document creators (creative professionals). These specifications and PDF Queues are then used within Enfocus products to create PDF files that comply with the quality requirements for output. Document creators and receivers can all use the resource section on CertifiedPDF.net to gain valuable information on PDF quality management. Total PDF Quality Management: The Enfocus PDF Workflow Suite and Instant PDF Packs Enfocus’ extensive experience in PDF quality management has resulted in a comprehensive system utilizing Enfocus’ Certified PDF technology. The updated PDF Workflow Suite 1.5 contains all products needed to engage in a total Certified PDF Workflow and will also be made fully compatible with Acrobat 7 and PDF 1.6 by the close of April 2005. The Enfocus PDF Workflow Suite consists of Enfocus Instant PDF, a one-year Enfocus CertifiedPDF.net Contributor license, Enfocus PitStop Server and Enfocus PitStop Professional. In addition Enfocus offers a range of Instant PDF Multi-Packs, allowing document receivers to equip their document creators at a low per-unit cost. “Enfocus is firmly committed to provide the graphic arts industry with the most elegant, reliable and user-friendly solution to PDF quality control,” concludes Van Dam.
