Canon U.S.A. Receives 2005 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award From EPA

LAKE SUCCESS, New York--March 15, 2005-- Canon U.S.A., Inc., a subsidiary of Canon Inc., has been named an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year - Manufacturer for outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by designing and promoting energy-efficient products. The award will be presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) today at the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th Street NW, Washington, DC. Canon will be honored for its leadership in manufacturing, broadly promoting products that earn the ENERGY STAR, and for education outreach to further enhance energy efficiency awareness. ENERGY STAR is the U.S. government-backed symbol of energy efficiency. At the forefront of the office equipment and consumer imaging industries, Canon has developed original and advanced energy efficient technologies, and it has introduced more than 400 products that incorporate these technologies. Since 2001, Canon U.S.A. has received four Partner of the Year - Manufacturer awards. An ENERGY STAR partner since 1993, Canon U.S.A. also has won five other ENERGY STAR awards. The Partner of the Year Award is presented to manufacturers and retailers that successfully promote and deliver ENERGY STAR qualified products, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Canon U.S.A. was selected from thousands of organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program each year. Among the Canon products that have earned ENERGY STAR: Canon imageRUNNER models 2270, 2870, 3570 and 4570 -- multifunction products that incorporate a RAPID Fusing System that is an advanced energy efficiency technology. Bubble Jet technology in consumer photo all-in-one devices, such as the Canon PIXMA MP780 and MP130, leading to a reduction in the amount of energy consumed for the entire unit. The Canon PIXMA iP4000 and iP6000D are examples of Canon consumer ink jet photo printers that are among the industry's most energy efficient in standby mode.
