Press release from the issuing company

SUSSEX, Wis.--March 8, 2005-- Quad/Graphics has been named Newsweek's 2004 Printer of the Year - the 20th consecutive year the commercial printer has earned the newsweekly's exclusive honor. "Quad/Graphics is highly productive and a technology leader in the industry," said John Nallen, Newsweek Director of Manufacturing. "We're only as good as our printers. It's paramount to our job that we partner with printers who possess the most modern technology. Our expectations are high and always met by Quad/Graphics." "Quad/Graphics is committed to being an industry leader and dedicated to providing signature service to our clients," said Joel Quadracci, Quad/Graphics President & Chief Operating Officer. "To be recognized 20 years in a row for providing Newsweek with excellent service is an incredible accomplishment and one of which we're very proud." Each calendar year, Newsweek judges its printers on specific criteria: 1) quality, 2) paper waste on covers, 3) paper waste on current forms, 4) turnaround time from the last file to the first book, 5) time needed to produce the first 100,000 books, 6) bindery books per hour, and 7) service and support. Six plants vied for Newsweek's coveted award, with Quad/Graphics' Hartford, Wis., plant taking top honors and its Saratoga Springs, N.Y., plant placing second in a very close race. "Quad's plants consistently come out on top when we evaluate the facilities that print our newsweekly," said Mark Heeman, Newsweek's Associate Director of Advertising Production. "In today's market, we continually evaluate waste and mailing to help control costs. That's where Quad/Graphics has a leg up." Added Mr. Nallen: "We rely on Quad/Graphics and its Hartford employees rise to the top all the time, specifically in areas of paper waste and turnaround time. We give credit to Quad/Graphics for being able to maintain a level of consistency year after year." Quad/Graphics' relationship with Newsweek has spanned more than 28 years. Currently, the printer produces 2.2 million copies each week in four plants across the nation. In addition to its Hartford, Wis., and Saratoga Springs, N.Y., plants, Quad/Graphics also produces Newsweek in its facilities in The Rock, Ga., and Oklahoma City, Okla.
