Xeikon 5000 Shines At The Graphics Of The Americas

Press release from the issuing company

ITASCA, IL, MARCH 7, 2005 - Xeikon America, A Wholly Owned Subsidiary Of Punch International, Displayed The Xeikon 5000 Web-Fed Press At The Graphics Of The Americas Show (Goa) In Miami Beach, Fl. The Xeikon 5000 Generated Tremendous Interest Amongst The Attendees Who Visited The Xeikon Booth In Large Numbers Throughout The Show. "The GOA show was a huge success for Xeikon," states Kristof Vereenooghe, President-Xeikon America. "We are very confident about the future business resulting from the GOA exhibit and the shift of printers worldwide towards the digital format. This confirms that Xeikon- the only printing press manufacturer that concentrates solely on digital color web-fed systems, is in the right place at the right time, with the right product," added Kristof. GOA attendees at the Xeikon booth represented a wide geographical cross section from the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, and Central and South America. In addition, the GOA/Xplor Variable Data track drew a lot of interest to the Xeikon booth with the ongoing demonstration of the 5000. Visitors to the Xeikon booth said that they had heard about the Xeikon 5000 and "wanted to see it in action". The attendees were impressed with the quality, productivity as well as the simplicity of operation of the Xeikon 5000. The ability of the Xeikon 5000 to print on a wide variety of substrates such as polyester film, transfer materials and label stock, with an incredibly wide range of substrate thicknesses (27 lb. text to 16-pt. stock), makes it suitable for almost any digital printing application. Other features of the Xeikon 5000 include unique One-Pass-Duplex printingTM, an extra fifth color station that can be added without impacting the printing speed and the automated press registration and calibration. In addition, the recently introduced X-800 Digital Front-End (DFE) is an extremely fast and responsive system because it allows simultaneous set-up as well as RIPping and printing of a file, delivering vastly increased productivity. The X-800 DFE easily processes PostScript, PDF, PPML and PPML/VDX files at high speed and is designed to support future JDF-based digital job tickets. GOA Vice President and General Manager, Chris Price said, "A survey of GOA attendees indicated that over a third were planning to add either variable data or digital color to their product and service offerings." To meet this growing market demand, "The Xeikon 5000 has been developed with over a decade of experience in digital technology. It shows improvements in virtually every aspect that can enable printers to increase their productivity and lower the total cost of production, thereby adding volume to their business", concluded Kristof.
