Creo Presents New Solution for Professional Photo Reproduction Market

Press release from the issuing company

PMA 2005, Orlando, Florida (February 20, 2005) – Creo Inc. presents for the first time, a full scanning and printing solution for the professional, high-resolution, wide-format photo market. This configuration is based on the Creo iQsmart1 and iQsmart3 scanners, and the HP Designjet 130 and Designjet 5500 printer series. Both Creo and HP have tested and approved this combined solution. The Creo iQsmart scanners, a highly compatible solution for HP Designjet users in the professional photographic environment, produce large prints with the same color fidelity and detail sharpness as the original image. HP Designjet printers produce superior image quality, dependable color accuracy and unmatched price-performance for the professional photo market. Better Print Quality, Better Competitive Edge The best print quality achieved on an output device, regardless of its resolution, color fidelity and image enhancement capabilities, depends on the original image and the quality of its scan. This is particularly true when printing images larger than A3 (17 x 22 in.) on high-resolution devices. Creo offers a range of high-quality scanners that enable users to choose the right price-performance combination for their workflow and color reproduction needs. HP-supplied color ICC profiles are included with the Creo oXYgen Scan software for use during scanning when the output is printed by an HP Designjet printer. These ICC profiles can be easily selected in the oXYgen Scan software setup dialog as output profiles. This enables users to see a true screen simulation of the final printed results — for any known ink and media combination. Users can produce an RGB file (with embedded input ICC profile) or a final CMYK file that has been created using the correct color transformation. This ensures proven image quality through a true 16-bit image capture depth and the best image tonal reproduction possible. The final print is simulated on the screen allowing the user to perform soft proofing before printing. Market Trends and Revenue Opportunity “The professional photo market has undergone a recent digitization through the adoption of digital photography, high-resolution, wide-format inkjet printers, and imaging technology. This trend creates a key business opportunity for our customers who desire productive, high-quality solutions to digitize and print their image collections on demand,” said Ziv Argov, director of marketing, Creo. “With Creo scanning and archiving, together with the superior quality of HP Designjet printers, our customers gain the best solution for creating digital prints and image archives that are designed for longevity and provide sharper, faster and better results.” Delivering Value “The Creo iQsmart scanners and HP Designjet printers with HP Vivera inks deliver great value to professional photographers and the graphic arts community,” said Ana Izquierdo, director of marketing, HP Designjet. “We are committed to providing our customers with the best color solution experience possible.” The final printed result gives HP customers a clear competitive edge — a sharper, high-quality image with more vivid colors. Both HP printers and Creo scanners are easy-to-use and require only a short period of learning. This ensures true ROI from the beginning of use.
