Valassis Free-Standing Insert Becomes SysTrust Certified

Press release from the issuing company

LIVONIA, Mich., Feb. 21 -- Valassis, the leading company in marketing services and Connective Media(TM) announced today that it has achieved SysTrust certification for its free-standing insert (FSI) process. Valassis is the only company to offer SysTrust certification for FSIs, an added assurance for marketers concerned about Sarbanes-Oxley and FSI controls. "We are dedicated to providing marketing solutions of the highest integrity to our customers," Alan F. Schultz, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Valassis said. "SysTrust certification is proof that Valassis adheres to a secure, accurate, high quality process for our FSI product." SysTrust was established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), and is designed to build customer trust and confidence among businesses through availability, security, processing integrity and confidentiality. Valassis' FSI is protected against unauthorized access ensuring that they are processed accurately and efficiently from market list selection to hand off to the newspaper for distribution. Additionally, Valassis subsidiary, NCH Marketing Services, is the first company in its clearing industry to have completed SAS 70 Type II examinations for both its retailer and manufacturer services. NCH has recently completed its third annual examination by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The SAS 70 for Service Organizations, as defined by the AICPA, provides a standard for examining and validating internal controls related to financial transaction processing. "The combined Valassis and NCH system provides the best opportunity to manage risk," added Schultz.
