Press release from the issuing company

PARAMUS, N.J., FEBRUARY 17, 2005 — The National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) will present its annual Technical Leadership Award to Carol Brown, president of Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) in Pewaukee, Wis., today during the Association’s 2005 Top Management Conference in Phoenix, Ariz. The award recognizes Brown’s visionary leadership and commitment to advancing the graphic communications industry. In announcing the award, Joseph P. Truncale, CAE, NAPL president and chief executive officer, said, “Carol has been a leader in supporting the technical advancement of graphic communications throughout her distinguished career. Her stewardship of WCTC and her active involvement in business and educational organizations represent all the NAPL Technical Leadership Award stands for and we’re very pleased to name her our 2005 honoree.” The NAPL Technical Leadership Award is presented annually to an individual in the graphic communications industry who personifies the principles of craftsmanship. The award recognizes definable achievement in some area of technical endeavor that can be broadly characterized as technical leadership. This leadership may be demonstrated through work in associations, through practical technological achievement and/or invention including the unique application of technology, or in graphic communications education. WCTC is home to the Harry V. Quadracci Printing and Graphics Center, which offers degrees in printing and publishing, as well as technical diplomas and certificates in printing and print-related areas of study. Brown spearheaded an effort that will lead to the creation of the Center’s new state-of-the-art Applied Printing Technology Center. The facility will support applied research, technical training, and industry seminars and conferences to meet new industry demands driven by technology advancements. Brown has served as WCTC president since July 2002. The College currently offers courses in more than 100 areas of study and serves about 33,000 students at three campuses (Pewaukee, Waukesha, and Menomonee Falls). Prior to her WCTC presidency, she served in a number of roles in education, including vice chancellor of Academic Student Affairs and dean of Academic and Student Services at Oakland Community College, and Coordinator of the Social Science and Public Services Division and History Department chair at Houston Community College. An active participant in numerous business and education organizations, Brown serves on the board of directors of La Casa de Esperanza, the Public Policy Forum of Greater Milwaukee, the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation, and the National Council for Continuing Education and Training. She received a B.A. in Social Studies Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and an M.A. in American History from Catholic University of America, and is completing her Ph.D. in Adult Higher Education at Michigan State University. The NAPL Technical Leadership Award is part of the NAPL Awards program, which also includes an Industry Award and an Education Leadershp Award. Sappi Fine Paper is recipient of the 2005 NAPL Industry Award (see accompanying press release).
