Dynagram and Müller develop post-press solutions for drupa

Press release from the issuing company

Quebec, Canada, April 21, 2008 - Dynagram, the leader in innovative imposition technologies for the commercial print, digital print and prepress industries and Müller Martini, the leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of a broad range of print finishing systems, announce new connectivity for post-press equipment between Dynagram's DynaStrip version 5.2 and Müller Martini finishing technology, thanks to a new barcode functionality.

DynaStrip 5.2 will now support different barcode standards for integration with post-press equipments. Supported standards include the 2/5 interleaved used by WST Systemtechnik GmbH, as well as the Code128c and the 2/5 interleaved standards read by Müller Martini AG Asir (Automatic Signature Image Recognition).

How does it work?
Bar codes that are attached to signatures on the imposition template are dynamically actualized by DynaStrip for each signature. When gathering the product, an optical reader scans barcodes to verify if signatures are missing or misplaced in the publication.

"The Müller Martini Asir (Automatic Signature Image Recognition) signature control system is able to verify signatures based on Image-comparison mode as well as barcode recognition. If Asir finds a barcode when referencing, the system automatically operates in barcode mode, enabling the best possible control," said Markus Schluep, Project Manager, Müller Martini. "The AsirCode coding determines if signatures are missing, facing in the wrong direction, or are gathered in the proper sequence. This ensures the complete and correct gathering of the products without need for additional operator input."

''By integrating with postpress barcodes systems, DynaStrip plays another important role for efficient and automated product quality control,'' says François Guérard, President and CEO of Dynagram.

DRUPA is held from May 29, 2008 through June 11th in Düsseldorf, Germany.
