IBM Taps Industry Experts for Production Print Leadership

Miami, Fl - February 4 - Graphics of the Americas 2005 - IBM Printing Systems today announced organizational appointments to align with the needs of production print customers in specific industries. The appointments have been made to help ensure that clients are provided with the expertise, leadership and resources required to help them succeed in their particular industry:   • John Kia has been named manager, production product marketing, responsible for the management of the division's hardware and software offerings for production printing, including digital publishing, transaction and commercial printing. Kia has held several senior technical and management positions in marketing and product development at IBM. • Bert Prospero has expanded his role as worldwide financial services solutions manager to include the public services sector.  He has served 10 years as a principal, responsible for implementation of document workflow solutions for numerous IBM customers across several industries including finance, insurance, telecommunications, as well as central government. Recognized as an innovator and leader in the field of content management, Prospero joined IBM in 1978 and brings 25 years of experience to the design, development, marketing, sales and support of output management within the IT industry. • Chris Reid has been named commercial print solutions manager. In this capacity, he is responsible for worldwide output solutions customized for the unique needs of today's commercial printers including service bureaus, direct mailers and book printers. Reid was IT manager of the Boulder Infoprint Center. During his tenure, he gained more than 10 years of experience working with customers and their applications in the direct mail, publishing and service bureau markets. "We have a simple and straightforward objective - advance business and technology solutions that bring value to our customers," said Karen Fukuma, vice president of maintenance, supplies and production solutions, IBM Printing Systems.  "To reach this objective, we must have the right leadership in place to focus on delivering the right combination of hardware, software and service solutions for clients in the industries we're focusing on." All appointments are effective immediately. Still to be named is a manager for the communications segment, which includes telecommunications.
