Montreal, February 2, 2005 – Transcontinental’s Executive Chairman of the Board, Rémi Marcoux, was named fourth by his peers on the list of most respected CEOs in the recently published Tenth Annual Survey of Canada’s Most Respected Corporations. Marcoux served as Transcontinental’s CEO until March 24, 2004, when he handed over daily management of the company he founded in 1976 to Luc Desjardins. The survey, conducted by Ipsos-Reid and sponsored by KPMG, involved interviewing 263 of Canada's leading CEOs between September and November, 2004. The most respected CEOs were determined based on the following four categories: Vision, focus, discipline or good strategy; Financial performance; Track record; and Shareholder or investment value. The survey named Dominic D'Alessandro of Manulife Financial Corporation the most respected CEO, followed by Clive Beddoe of WestJet Airlines Ltd., Paul Tellier, former head of Bombardier Inc., then Rémi Marcoux.
