RICHMOND, Va., Jan. 27 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation today announced that Infotrieve has selected RapidRights, a digital rights management (DRM) solution, to enhance its electronic reprint offering for scholarly and professional publishers. Infotrieve markets and sells article reprints on behalf of its publisher partners; electronic reprints or ePrints are powerful marketing tools to market and educate customers on new product releases or other company news. Infotrieve will use RapidRights to provide copyright protection for bulk ePrint sales of articles that will be distributed electronically. "Copyright is an important factor within the content aggregation and content technology industries in which Infotrieve operates," said Jan Peterson, Vice-President of Content Development at Infotrieve. "Infotrieve has selected Cadmus for its RapidRights solution because it enables us to provide our electronic journal reprints customers with advanced distribution options that are both innovative and copyright compliant." "Infotrieve and Cadmus are both leaders in the scholarly and professional publisher services market and we believe that this relationship creates a powerful service that will allow publishers to expand their commercial reprint revenue opportunities," said Hai Tran, Executive Vice President of Business Development. "In order to be effective, DRM solutions cannot present obstacles to the end-user -- we are pleased that Infotrieve, a long-time leader in content aggregation and delivery, has recognized the simplicity and ease-of-use that RapidRights provides for both content providers and, more importantly, for content recipients." RapidRights allows publishers and content aggregators to deliver protected PDF files to users and is the only DRM solution on the market that does not require a separate download or plug-in to open the protected files. RapidRights is the electronic delivery component of Cadmus' ArticleWorks(TM), a comprehensive content delivery and digital rights management system that facilitates the delivery of content on demand in either printed or secure electronic formats.
