Powell Offset Service installs Muller Martini Presto Saddle Stitcher, improves productivity

Press release from the issuing company

Austin, Texas – The loyalty of customers is an essential ingredient to business success. Indeed, it’s an integral part of why Muller Martini has become the world’s leading provider of finishing solutions. And loyalty, together with the ability to dramatically increase its operational productivity, explains why Powell Offset Service recently installed a Muller Martini Presto Saddle Stitcher. Powell Offset is a small sheet-fed shop, a family-owned business with approximately 20 employees. The company prints catalogs, booklets, pamphlets and other varied projects for a growing roster of clients. For many, many years Powell had been using a Muller Martini Minuteman stitcher and although the Minuteman provided exceptional reliability, it was time to upgrade. Without so much as considering competitive-brand stitchers, Powell turned again to Muller Martini, the company it had long depended on for responsive support, and a new Presto Saddle Stitcher was installed. With its automated menu-guided PLC controls, the Presto is extremely user-friendly and enables fast make-readies and changeovers. In fact, Powell Offset Service has increased its make-ready speed by over 30%. Furthermore, the Muller Martini Presto Saddle Stitcher can process at a lightening quick 9,000 cycles per hour, which has also resulted in a throughput speed improvement of more than 30% for Powell. In addition to productivity enhancements, the Presto Saddle Stitcher provides Powell Offset with ways to expand its business. The Presto stitcher can handle projects ranging in size from 8 1/4” x 11 3/4” to 4 1/8” x 5 7/8”, giving Powell the ability to create a wider variety of different size books – at a lower cost per book than was previously possible. Other key benefits of the Presto Saddle Stitcher include renowned Muller Martini flying stitching heads to assure precise stitching and to reduce wear, as well as caliper and missing stitch detector technology to further assure perfect quality. The compact, economical Presto Saddle Stitcher also features an in-line three-knife trimmer along with an efficient compensating stacker, and, it offers the advantages of a high/low folio, gripper and suction opening, and flat loading pockets.
