Entry Deadlines Approach For AGC's 63rd Annual Graphic Arts Awards Exhibition

NEW YORK, NY, December 16, 2004—The Association of Graphic Communications (AGC) is pleased to announce the Call for Entries for its 63rd Annual Graphic Arts Awards Exhibition. The popular Exhibition, which will take place at the Xerox Knowledge Learning Centre in New York City, April 20-21, 2005, provides an opportunity for member and non-member firms within the NY/NJ/CT tri-state metro area to submit their best work produced during calendar year 2004 and compete for a range of prestigious awards. Winning entries, professionally displayed in a gallery setting, will be viewed by hundreds of print buyers and specifiers. Entry deadlines are: January 18, 2005 for all Print categories and February 4, 2005 for a Website Design category. All manufacturers and those firms engaged in the graphic arts process, i.e., printers, ad agencies, designers, pre-media services, binders and finishers, are eligible. Public relations or marketing firms and corporate communications departments can also submit entries if the entry requirements below are fulfilled: • Entire piece must be produced (printing, prepress, finishing and website design) in metropolitan New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area • Piece must have been completed in calendar year 2004 • Three samples of each entry are requested. Among the 25 entry categories are: Advertising Printing; Annual Reports; Campaign Advertising; Digital On Demand Printing; Direct Response Advertising; Greeting Cards, Postcards & Invitations; Labels; Non-Commercial, Community (Not-for-Profit); Posters; Packaging; Point-of-Purchase Printing; Real Estate; Self-Promotion; Stationery & Business Forms; and Website Design. New this year, in addition to the customary AGC Achievement and Showcase Awards, is the debut of a Creo Technology Application Award. It will complement the AGC Technical Excellence Awards which last year for the first time named the three top Leo Awards in honor of Leo H. Joachim, founder/editor/publisher of Printing News. A 2005 Spotlight Award will highlight trends within the healthcare (pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical) sector and select a “best in category” Spotlight Award winner. The 12th Annual selection of the Pantone Color Excellence Awards and the 3rd Annual NPTA Alliance Paper Recognition Awards, which are presented in conjunction with the Exhibition, generate additional excitement. A prominent panel of judges from the design, production and corporate communications sectors has been assembled (see partial list in the Call for Entries.) The Exhibition will be open to the industry and public on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 (Technical Excellence Day) from 10:30 a.m.-5:45 p.m. and Thursday, April 21, 2005 (Designers’ Day) from 10:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Both industry viewing days will feature five 25-30 minute educational sessions. These free forums, presented by sponsors and different hosts, will run concurrently with the Exhibit and cover a range of production topics, i.e., workflow, color management, paper and more.
