EFI: Colorproof XF Earns Top Scores for ICC-Based Software in International Forum

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, Calif.--Dec. 13, 2004-- EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced that its ground-breaking new proofing solution, Colorproof XF, outperformed all ICC-based competitors at the 4th Digital Proofing Forum, held by the German Printing and Media Industries Federation (bvdm) and the European Color Initiative (ECI) in Stuttgart, Germany. These results strongly confirm Colorproof XF is the leading, global ICC color management solution and the number one choice for open standard, high-quality, color accurate proofing at an affordable price. The Digital Proofing Forum featured 12 vendors and 19 proofing configurations. EFI Colorproof XF with Best(TM) technology achieved the best color accuracy results within the demanding FOGRA measurement tolerances of any ICC-based solution. Colorproof XF also delivered flawless Altona Test Suite prints, the standard industry test file used to verify color accuracy and PDF/X compliance of digital proofing systems. Outputting flawless prints, especially the Altona Technical page, proves the powerful capabilities of Colorproof XF to interpret PDF/X and PostScript files and achieve the highest level of image processing possible. The ICC profile specification, developed by the International Color Consortium, provides a cross-platform device profile format to translate color data created on one device into another device's native color space. The acceptance of the ICC format allows tremendous flexibility and assures both users and vendors that images will retain color fidelity when moved between operating systems and applications. "Support for international standards is increasingly critical for print shops to achieve consistency with proofing systems, which is why our proofing solutions have adhered to the ICC standard since 1997," said Thorsten Breiding, GM and VP of EFI Proofing Solutions. "ICC-based proofing systems offer accessibility to thousands of color profiles, compatibility with all leading color management applications, and consistent high quality results -- as shown in the Digital Proofing Forum. Building upon standards like ICC allows users and vendors to improve their quality and effectiveness and promote industry growth. We are pleased to be recognized as the leading performer in ICC-based proofing." No other proofing product on the market matches the scalability and versatility, high caliber ease of use, speed and flexibility of Colorproof XF. The new open, cross-platform color management system works with any profiling solution that creates ICC profiles. It delivers endless flexibility and customization to print shops of all sizes with its unique, modular approach to proofing. Offering several different component and output options that can be joined together in different combinations to create basic or extended configurations, Colorproof XF allows each customer to find a tailored solution to suit their exact proofing requirements, and easily add more functionality as needs expand. EFI Colorproof XF is available today from certified EFI dealer and reseller partners worldwide. EFI plans to provide a wide format production version of Colorproof XF in 2005, allowing even non-color experts to quickly and easily output signage and posters with superior image quality.
