Planning For The Future: Baldwin Germany Gmbh Announces New Facility

Press release from the issuing company

Augsburg, Germany / Shelton, Connecticut, December 9, 2004 –The Board of Directors of Baldwin Technology Company, Inc. has approved plans by Baldwin Germany GmbH to move into a new 8,000 square meter purpose-built office building and production plant in Augsburg, Germany, by 2006. The new facility will streamline process workflows and increase production and assembly capacities for cleaning systems, consumables, fountain solution systems and web products. The site will also house a new Technical Competency Center for commercial printing technologies and products. Baldwin Germany GmbH currently employs approximately 200 staff and is located in an industrial zone to the east of Augsburg. The main reasons for Baldwin’s decision to strengthen and expand its operations in the Augsburg region are the excellent infrastructure, availability of qualified personnel, and the proximity of quality-oriented sub-suppliers. The Augsburg area also has important strategic advantages, given its proximity to leading press manufacturers, printers and publishers. Baldwin Technology Company, Inc has had direct representation in the German market through its subsidiary Baldwin Germany GmbH since 1971, which has been headquartered in Augsburg since 1975. “This new facility will further strengthen Baldwin’s position in the European marketplace and confirms our long term commitment to its OEM partners, printers, publishers and the printing industry in general,” commented Karl Pühringer, Baldwin’s vice president, responsible for Europe.
