docSTAR Supports Kodak Scan Station 100

Press release from the issuing company

Feb. 18 2008 - Eastman Kodak Company, a leader in document imaging, and docSTAR, a leader in document management systems, announced that the KODAK Scan Station 100 Scanner is now certified with the docSTAR family of solutions. The integration allows users to scan and intelligently file documents directly from the KODAK Scan Station 100 Scanner, making filing convenient and consistent.

The KODAK Scan Station 100 Scanner quickly and easily turns paper documents into digital files with the touch of a button. Documents can be simultaneously shared via email, stored on the network, sent to networked printers and copiers, and saved on portable USB drives—all without a computer. It connects to existing network infrastructure and features intuitive and interactive operation—including image preview of scanned images prior to sharing—from a full color touch screen.

The Scan Station 100 Scanner is the recipient of a number of industry recognitions, including the "Best of Show" award from a field of more than 200 products at FOSE 2006 and the American Business Awards' 2007 Stevie Award for "Best New Product."
Integrated Solution

The KODAK Scan Station 100 Scanner using docSTAR software delivers complete scanning and filing in one place, at one time. The one step process is much more efficient than scanning to a folder and then returning to a personal computer (PC) to perform the filing function. Together, the KODAK Scan Station 100 Scanner and docSTAR software improve productivity, reduce operational costs, and provide targeted solutions for any business need. This is particularly significant to users who may not have a PC or the experience in using a PC application.

docSTAR also offers users options for indexing workflows directly at their desktop. Users can utilize the Scan Station 100 Scanner to capture documents into docSTAR, allowing a host of options, including indexing at the device or at the desktop and distributing the documents internally or via a centralized repository.

"Having the ability to choose their filing preference at the Scan Station 100 Scanner or desktop provides users the option to configure applications that help to optimize their work processes," said Tom Franceski, docSTAR President.
Convenience and Consistency

Data entry at the scanner needs to be not only convenient, but also consistent with the filing policies established by an organization. The docSTAR enabled Scan Station 100 Scanner provides that convenience for data entry operators by prompting the user to select a form that corresponds to a docSTAR template. Users are then prompted to fill in only the fields displayed on that form. By limiting input into specific values, documents become filed in such a way that they may always be found by any user. This process allows for maximum consistency.

"In a true document management system like docSTAR, this guided filing process is a primary benefit versus the limited scan to folder or scan to network features available with most copiers," said Franceski.
Easy to Use Customizable Forms

Users can modify or create their own forms, tailoring the filing process to accommodate their own needs. The KODAK Scanner, combined with docSTAR technology, creates a truly customizable solution designed to meet virtually any business need.

Additionally, docSTAR is one of the most flexible document management solutions available today. It has proven its value in both small offices and large distributed enterprises.

"As more business consumers work to move from a paper based to an electronic filing system, having applications that are quickly connectable and functional increases flexibility in choosing the best solution for their needs," said Roger Markham, Product Marketing Manager for Distributed Capture Products, United States and Canada, Document Imaging, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group.

"We are pleased to work with Kodak," said Franceski. "Kodak's scanners help customers improve productivity in virtually any business."

KODAK scanners, software, and services are available through the company's channel partners. Additionally, there are a variety of service agreement offerings, delivered by KODAK Service & Support, the benchmark service provider for the document imaging industry.
