Stora Enso and Xeikon Establish Joint Venture

Press release from the issuing company

HELSINKI, Finland, Dec. 2 -- Stora Enso and Xeikon International have established a joint venture, Stora Enso Digital Solutions N.V. The joint venture will undertake sales, service and development of Stora Enso DBS Powered by Xeikon, a turnkey disc packaging solution for disc producers such as the music, software, movie and games industries as an alternative to plastic packaging. Stora Enso has a majority shareholding in Stora Enso Digital Solutions, which is based in Lier, Belgium. DBS (Discbox Slider) is Stora Enso's environmentally friendly and cost- effective paperboard packaging for CDs and DVDs. Stora Enso DBS Powered by Xeikon is an automated on-demand production line that covers the whole process of printing, converting and filling DBS packs. It is very efficient for short runs and personalized packages, and so ideal for increasingly fragmented markets such as the music business. Xeikon International is the world's leading supplier of digital colour printing solutions for professional applications. It is a subsidiary of Punch International, a company with a turnover of EUR 176 million in 2003 listed on the Brussels Euronext stock exchange and part of the NextPrime index. Ari Lehikoinen has been appointed Managing Director of Stora Enso Digital Solutions. Currently based in Belgium, he was previously employed at Stora Enso's InnoCentre packaging research and development unit in Finland.
