Lester Samuels Of Pictorial Offset Corporation To Be Honored At Printing Week Dinner In NY

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK, N.Y., December 1, 2004 — Lester Samuels, a partner in one of the Northeast’s largest commercial printing firms, has been selected to receive the Florence & Leo Joachim Award at the New York Chapter of Printing House Craftsmen’s Printing Week Dinner on January 18, 2005. The award, recognizing exceptional service, goes to Mr. Samuels by the vote of a committee representing most of the industry groups and clubs in the New York-New Jersey metro area. These groups also will use the occasion to present Joseph A. Fielder Fellowship Awards to their outstanding members. The Printing Week Dinner is an annual celebration hosted by the New York Chapter, one of 80 Craftsmen chapters in nine countries that observe Printing Week during the week of Benjamin Franklin’s birthday (January 17). It is an evening of fellowship that celebrates the customs and ideals of the industry as epitomized by those honored with the Joachim and Fielder Awards. The Joachim Award salutes Mr. Samuels both for his business success and for his leadership in advancing the causes of the industry in the metro area. He is a managing partner of Pictorial Offset Corporation, Carlstadt, N.J., a family business that he co-manages with his brothers, Gary and Donald. The firm, which employs 275 people and generates $65 million in revenues annually, has the distinction of being the first business in the world to achieve dual certification for meeting ISO 9002 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) standards. Mr. Samuels served as chairman of the Association of Graphic Communications (AGC), the regional affiliate of Printing Industries of America (PIA/GATF), from 2000 to 2003. Under his leadership, AGC and its member companies took many significant steps to recover from the economic devastation brought to the metro area printing industry by the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Samuels is known as a particularly strong advocate of professional education and training. He currently serves as PIA/GATF board member for the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut region and remains active with AGC as its immediate past chairman.
