SAN DIEGO, CA - November 24, 2004 - Solimar Systems, Inc., a leading global provider of production printing and secure document delivery solutions, today announced the release of iCONVERT v9.04, a robust transform engine that converts IPDS data streams into PCL, PDF, PostScript and TIFF output formats to satisfy a wide variety of printing and electronic presentation requirements. iCONVERT v9.04 has been enhanced to support high density two dimensional (2D) barcodes, streamline PDF workflow operations, and simplify configuration management, enabling users to save time and become more productive.
Version 9.04 of iCONVERT includes added support for information-rich 2D barcodes, which are capable of encoding more information in smaller spaces than traditional linear 1D barcodes, leaving additional space on the page for important written communications. Users of 2D barcodes also benefit from enhanced data security because they cannot be read by the human eye and have a built-in redundancy of characters which virtually ensures 100% accuracy. "Many of our customers with direct mail applications will benefit from using 2D barcodes to eliminate the time and cost of re-keying recipient information after receiving direct mail return responses," states Mary Ann Rowan, Solimar Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
iCONVERT v9.04 is also enhanced with unique PDF annotation support that can be easily combined with Solimar’s core output management system, Solimar Print/Director, to provide increased control of enterprise output. Users can take full advantage of the functional integration between the two products to streamline new PDF workflow options. "PDF data streams processed by iCONVERT can be further leveraged by Solimar Print/Director to automate additional data center processes and reduce manual operations, such as reprints," says Rowan.
iCONVERT v9.04 also includes streamlined functionality to import configuration files from current and legacy versions of iCONVERT, as well as exporting configuration files. Importing and exporting iCONVERT settings is particularly valuable to users when restoring backup configurations, migrating configuration settings to additional iCONVERT systems, or when performing an upgrade installation.
Additional iCONVERT v9.04 enhancements include:
•Flexible controls and options for rendering PDF graphic fills for optimized viewing or printing
•Automatic page scaling for PostScript output to match destination printers’ unprintable margins
•Streamlined upgrade installation process
•Improved configuration information management via a single consolidated XML file
•Additional highlight color options to expand the range of output from full color printers
The release of iCONVERT v9.04 with its added functionality and ease of use reinforces Solimar’s continuing commitment to be the leading provider of the most robust output management solutions on the market.
