Agfa to Show Value-Added Packaging Solutions at Emballage 2004

Press release from the issuing company

Mortsel, Belgium – 17 November 2004 – Agfa will show a variety of value-added solutions for packaging at Emballage 2004 from 22-26 November in Villepinte, Paris, France. Visitors will see Agfa’s :Sublima XM screening, :Alterno colour conversion software, :ApogeeX workflow and inkjet solutions for packaging, each of which are designed to help package converters increase quality, cut costs and reduce job turnaround time. :Sublima XM screening, one of Agfa’s core packaging solutions, will be a focal point of Agfa’s display at Emballage. This unique technology allows package printers and converters with offset, flexo or film-based workflows to achieve two of their main goals: improving press stability and increasing overall image quality and detail. It does so by combining the advantages of AM and FM screening, without their inherent shortcomings. :Sublima XM maintains detail in highlights and shadows by using the smallest dot a given press/plate/anilox/substrate combination can hold throughout the complete tonal range. This provides a smooth screen in the midtones without dot cluster, artefacts or graininess. The cross-modulation technology moves from AM to FM showing no visible cross-over, allowing printers and converters to achieve highlight and shadow printing at higher-than-standard resolutions. A complimentary :Sublima ValueBox, which shows :Sublima XM’s performance on a full range of folding carton, label, corrugated and flexible packaging jobs in offset, letterpress and flexo, will be given to booth visitors. Agfa will host technology demonstrations of :Alterno, a colour conversion tool based on a customer-specified set of colours. :Alterno helps printers save time and money by reducing the number of spot colours it takes to produce packaging jobs. Demonstrations of :ApogeeX for Packaging, a JDF-compatible workflow that connects production lines from the front end to the press, will be also available. :ApogeeX combines powerful tools with task automation to reduce job turnaround times. Inkjet technologies on display will include Agfa’s :Dotrix digital printing system, which offers incredible fast, high-quality production and :Sherpa advanced proofing systems, which allow printers make fast, high quality colour-contract and imposition proofs.
