Creo Proofing Solutions Achieve High Scores at International Forum

Press release from the issuing company

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA -- November 15, 2004 -- Creo is pleased to report the successful performance of Creo proofing solutions, the Veris(tm) and Integris(tm) proofers, at the fourth annual Digital Proofing Forum, organized by the German Printing and Media Industries Federation (bvdm) and the European Color Initiative (ECI) in Stuttgart, Germany. With the highest possible scores in several of the visual tests, the proofers passed the challenging Altona Test Suite, the industry benchmark for evaluating proof quality, and PDF and RIP functionality. The Prinergy and Brisque workflow management systems also demonstrated their 100 percent compliance with PDF/X-3 by passing the Altona Test Suite. With sold-out attendance, this event featured 19 proofing systems from various vendors. Proofing systems were evaluated on both colorimetric and visual tests. The Creo proofing solutions, the Veris proofer with Prinergy 2.3, and the Integris Desktop with Brisque 5.0, demonstrated the highest possible scores in the visual tests, without sacrificing any of the colorimetric measurements. Not all vendors were able to meet both visual and colorimetric requirements at the same time. Testing included the simulation of a sheet from a web press printed on paper type 3 (grey paper, medium print quality) with the new Altona Test Suite 1.2 printed in four colors. Vendors received measured values from the press sheet, which had to be matched as closely as possible within two hours. A Leading Desktop Proofing Solution... On measured colorimetric tests, the Integris Desktop was one of only four systems to come within all colorimetric tight tolerances set by the organization committee, and the only system of those four that was also within the colorimetric tolerances on the visual result. "We are pleased that both the Veris and Integris proofing systems performed so well," said Arjen van der Meulen, Creo proofing and color marketing manager, Europe. "This test was interesting because it required matching routine commercial printing requirements. As the results clearly show, the Integris Desktop is a perfect match to this market." The Integris Desktop proofing solution sets a new standard in desktop proofing with consistency, stability and image quality. The Integris Desktop combines the Integris Qualified EPSON Stylus Pro 4000 printer with the Integris Proof Controller and Integris Qualified inks and media for calibrated digital contone 2-up proofs.
