POD Service Launched In India

Press release from the issuing company

Margao, Goa - February 18 2008 -Now you can print one book at a time! CinnamonTeal Print & Publishing Services has successfully launched India's first Print-On-Demand (POD) service. This service allows authors to publish their books, one copy at a time thus eliminating the need for upfront publishing costs and for maintaining a large inventory of books. POD is essentially a service for authors whose books target niche audiences and hence must be published in small quantities, as opposed to a minimum order quantity of 1000 copies in traditional (offset) printing.

Self-publishing now becomes unbelievably simple. Authors may submit a completed manuscript by emailing CinnamonTeal a copy or sending one to their postal address (for details contact their website http://cinnamonteal.dogearsetc.com ). Upon submission of the completed manuscript, the book is immediately available listed for sale on Dogears Etc. (http://www.dogearsetc.com), an online bookstore. Authors can dictate the price of the book depending on the amount they wish to earn per book. Once an order is placed for a book, the book is printed and bound and dispatched to the customer. Authors have absolute control over the contents of the book and retain the rights to the book. The author is not charged any set up costs or upfront costs of any kind. Pre-publishing services such as copyediting, proofreading, cover design and page layout are also provided for an additional amount. Ghost writing and translation services are also offered. Upon sale, books are dispatched by any preferred method and charged at cost.

This service is best suited for authors who want to have their books published in small quantities for various reasons. Such authors may include authors who wish to publish a few copies for distribution in local circles, students who want to have their dissertations published, even publishers who wish to keep their back lists in circulation. While the unit cost of a book is high, the total cost of printing, when compared to having 1000 books published and having to store them in a safe place, is significantly low. Various book sizes, binding options and cover options are also available.

Queenie Fernandes and Leonard Fernandes, the co-founders of CinnamonTeal are very enthusiastic about their prospects. They feel that the cultural and linguistic disparity that is unique in India lends itself to the need for books that cater to very small, niche audiences. A traditional publisher will print a minimum of 1000 copies and, as a result, many authors are rejected because publishers feel that the books will not sell such numbers. Authors that do get selected have to make do with small percentages of the selling price as revenues. CinnamonTeal will plug these gaps by offering authors the opportunity to have their books published on the authors' own terms, one book at a time. Besides, CinnamonTeal publishes books in all Indian and in most foreign languages. This allows authors of Indian languages to publish their books in small quantities and serve their niche markets.

Within four months of its launch, CinnamonTeal has met with spectacular success. Besides clients from all over India, it has also attracted clientele from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Tanzania, USA and UK.
