InfoTrends/CAP Ventures Forecasts U.S. Document Outsourcing Market to Grow

Press release from the issuing company

(Weymouth, MA) October 26, 2004…InfoTrends/CAP Ventures projects that the United States document outsourcing market will increase from $30.6 billion in 2003 to $36.7 billion in 2008, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.7%. InfoTrends/CAP Ventures’ new forecast entitled United States Document Outsourcing Market Forecast: 2003-2008 provides an overview of the document outsourcing market as it exists today and the analysis necessary to understand where the market is headed in the future. This forecast provides actual and forecasted revenues for the three traditional segments of Facilities Management (FM), Statement Printing, and Contracted Print services. It also covers a new segment known as Document Process Outsourcing (DPO). DPO represents a new, customer-centric category of document outsourcing and is projected to grow much faster than the marketplace as a whole. While it currently represents only a small part of the overall document outsourcing opportunity, DPO is projected to grow at a rate of 12% - 16% over the next three years. InfoTrends/CAP Ventures expects this growth to accelerate and reach a rate of 24.1% by 2008, illustrating greater acceptance of document process outsourcing. InfoTrends/CAP Ventures expects FM revenue to experience a CAGR of nearly 5% over the forecast period, outpacing statement printing and contracted print services combined. Cost-cutting measures that are continuing to accelerate basic facilities management adoption, specifically in corporate in-plant environments, are fueling this segment’s growth. Statement printing is projected to remain relatively stagnant, demonstrating a CAGR of 1.0% over the forecast period. Slow economic times and the growing acceptance of electronic bill presentment are contributing to this segment’s lackluster growth. Contracted print services are expected to show a 3.8% CAGR over the forecast period. This segment’s growth can be attributed to digital production color output (variable data documents) and value-added services. “Our forecast provides the strategic, financial, and statistical information necessary for service providers, customers, and companies considering outsourcing engagements as part of their document outsourcing planning process,” commented Holly Muscolino, a Director at InfoTrends/CAP Ventures. ”The forecast also includes a comprehensive section that profiles service providers and their offerings, as well as a section dedicated to market sizing and opportunity analysis on a number of emerging opportunities for providers and customers.” The document entitled United StatesDocument Outsourcing Market Forecast: 2003-2008 is available immediately to clients of InfoTrends/CAP Ventures’ North American Production Workflow Solutions Consulting Service.
