Nipson Demonstrates Integrated Digital/Offset Solution At Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

(Elk Grove Village, IL)  October 5, 2004 – Nipson displays the robust flexibility of its digital printing technology at Graph Expo(R) 2004 with a demonstration of its new generation VaryPress.  Nipson booth #3360 features a VaryPress 400 printing inline with a Muller Martini Concepta color offset press, showing how printers can build business by combining traditional offset quality color with high-value variable data.  The VaryPress 400 is the latest in a series of Nipson digital presses specially designed to integrate with a standard printing press to add variable data to the printed web. “Digital printing is no longer a stand-alone application – it is a key part of a comprehensive approach to creating documents that integrates variable information in large volumes on a wide range of substrates, utilizing many different printing and finishing technologies.” said Alfons Buts, managing director of Nipson Digital Printing Systems PLC. “Nipson helps printers efficiently and effectively move beyond the limits of traditional printing into the realm of full variable document production.” Nipson also will be demonstrating its new VaryPress 200 digital printer in a separate booth (#4885), highlighting its capability to produce high quality variable output on a variety of materials and providing new opportunities for printers to broaden their business base by offering variable printing to existing and new customers. The Graph Expo demonstrations are the North American premiere of Nipson’s new generation of VaryPresses.  The VaryPress 200 and 400, first shown at DRUPA 2004, feature high print quality (600 dpi) and Nipson’s unique technology combination of magnetographic imaging and cold flash toner fusing.  This combination produces offset-quality output at full rated speeds on an unmatched range of stocks – including papers from light to heavy weights, synthetics, foils, labels, carbonless materials, and more. Muller Martini / Nipson Integration The Nipson VaryPress / Muller Martini inline demonstration shows the distinct benefits of the VaryPress in creating direct mail and transactional documents.  The VaryPress’s unique high-speed and variable controls allow operation in line with traditional offset presses as well as in multiple stand-alone configurations.  Printing high-quality 600 dpi output at up to 410 ft. /min. (125 meters/min.), the Nipson VaryPress 400 is the true high-volume workhorse of the digital printing world.  With its productivity, quality, and flexibility, the VaryPress is the ideal system for high-volume variable printing applications. VaryPress 200 Operating at speeds of up to 230 ft. /min. (70 m/min.), the VaryPress 200 can produce over 500 sharp 600-dpi images per minute in two-up simplex mode. In addition to the conventional twin engine duplex configuration, Nipson also offers the VaryPress 200 in a Single Engine Duplex (SED) version. The SED configuration takes advantage of the printer’s wide paper path to print both sides of the web with a single print engine. The VaryPress 200 also works with many print software packages to ensure compatibility with existing print operations as well as adaptability for future growth. The VaryPress 200 on display will be running a spot color application produced by integrating a color printhead onto the system.  This shows the versatility of the VaryPress in working with other systems to produce a wide range of marketing, security, and transactional documents.  The Nipson VaryPress 200 incorporates an entirely new generation of magnetographic imaging technology, including newly designed write heads, an enhanced performance print drum, and a new toner formulation. The result is excellent output quality with seamless grayscales, high-quality images, and fine line drawings.
