Courier Corporation Elects Two New Directors

NORTH CHELMSFORD, Mass.--Oct. 14, 2004-- Courier Corporation announced that it has expanded its Board of Directors from 9 to 11 members and elected Susan L. Wagner and Peter K. Markell to fill the vacancies effective November 1, 2004. Ms. Wagner is Vice President of Marketing Research for the Gillette Company. She joined Gillette in 1989 as Director of Marketing Research and assumed her current position in 1996. Prior to joining Gillette, Ms. Wagner held marketing research positions with Avon Products, Hunt Wesson Foods, Thomas J. Lipton and Gulf & Western. Ms. Wagner is a member of The Boston Club and a trustee of the Marketing Science Institute. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1971 and an MBA from Pace University in 1981. Mr. Markell is Vice President for Finance for Partners HealthCare Systems, Inc., since joining the company in 1999. Prior to joining Partners HealthCare, he was a Partner with Ernst & Young LLP from 1977 to 1998 and Interim Chief Financial Officer for Massachusetts General Hospital from 1995 to 1996. Educated at Boston College, Mr. Markell earned his B.S.B.A. in 1977. He is a member of the Boston College Board of Trustees and a member of their Finance and Audit Committee. In addition, he serves as a director of several educational and charitable organizations. "We are extremely pleased to have Susan and Peter join our Board. Susan brings valuable experience in marketing, business development and long range planning. Peter's experience in finance and accounting further strengthens the Board's ability to provide financial guidance and oversight. They will complement our existing board well," commented James F.
