KPG Helps Customers Tackle Data Storage Issues With Expanded Exastore Product Line

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, Illinois, USA — Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) continues to make premedia data storage and its management easier and more affordable. The latest expansion of the ExaStore, powered by Exanet, storage solution product family is ExaStore SA, to be launched by KPG at Graph Expo. The ExaStore SA storage solution incorporates Serial ATA (SATA) disk arrays and complements the very successful ExaStore FC, Digital Storage Solution, which uses fibre channel disk arrays. KPG is the worldwide distributor of the ExaStore system for the graphic arts industry. “While today’s digital environment boosts speed and productivity in the graphic arts industry, it also forces printers and premedia companies to face the ever-growing challenge of data storage,” said Bill DeMarco, Worldwide Director, Consulting and Solutions, KPG. “The ExaStore SA Data Storage System is a “next generation” storage system that helps customers better manage the issues associated with storing and accessing their large volumes of data, ultimately improving their efficiency and productivity and letting them focus on growing their business.” Tailored for the specific needs of the graphic arts industry, the ExaStore SA System is a network-attached storage (NAS) system that complements existing data workflow solutions, allowing customers to consolidate their data into a single, easily upgradeable, scalable and automated storage system. Installed on industry-standard hardware, consisting of servers and Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives in a RAID configuration, the ExaStore software consolidates data from different storage pools into a complete, more cost effective system providing reliable, high speed access to all media files. The ExaStore SA System, with its fully automated management system, seamlessly scales to virtually any storage capacity, performance or bandwidth level. Its no-single-point-of-failure redundant architecture and automated load and capacity balancing insures maximum uptime to support the highly demanding, tight production schedules and deadlines imposed by the publishing industry. Its ExaSync data-mirroring feature and self-healing hardware and software system insures 24/7 data reliability and access. The ExaStore SA and FC systems easily integrate with all leading digital media applications including software from Adobe, Xinet, Dalim, Quark, Helios, Legato, Prinergy, and many others, while it also supports virtually every system platform, including Apple, Windows, UNIX, and Linux and provides the standard file system APIs – NFS, CIFS, and AFP – to applications. Customers can customize their ExaStore system in a wide range of configurations, easily meeting individual capacity and throughput needs.
