Dalim Dialogue V3.0 Softproofing Solution Adds New Approval Features At Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Kehl, Germany – Building on its award-winning softproofing solution, Dalim Software will demonstrate its new version 3.0 of DALiM DiALOGUE, featuring new job approval features, at Graph Expo 2004 on booth 5066. DALiM DiALOGUE provides users with an on-line facility to provide remote and collaborative viewing and soft proofing of high-resolution files via the Internet. Winner of a 2003 MacWorld Best of Show Award and Graph Expo 2003 ‘Worth a Look’ designation, it is the only softproofing application that runs on the Macintosh OS X operating system and is specifically designed as a stand-alone product compatible with a range of automated workflows. DALiM DiALOGUE utilizes unique data-streaming technology to standard web-browsers, allowing users to view high-resolution files in real time without the need for client software or browser plug-ins. Printers, publishers, ad agencies and designers can offer their customers the ability to view, zoom in/out, navigate, place annotations, draw to highlight areas, take densitometer readings, check production parameters, and even ‘chat’ in real time. Unlike other systems that require the user to either install a web-browser plug-in, or even download and install a complete client application, DALiM DiALOGUE requires no client software whatsoever, and runs under all current client operating systems. Furthermore, DALiM DiALOGUE’s software licensing doesn’t restrict the number of concurrent users. Any version of the software allows unlimited client access to the system (dependent on host hardware and internet bandwidth). The most significant new feature of DALiM DiALOGUE v3.0 is job approval. When enabled, DiALOGUE users view a set of icons that accompany a document icon, informing them about each document’s current approval status. Document history and any user comments are also accessible. When the document has been approved, an “Approved” icon appears, informing the printer that the production process can continue. The system can also initiate a number of actions that can be automatically performed after the file has been validated, such as moving the approved file to another file folder – or even to a production workflow such as DALiM TWiST; copying the file to another file folder; or renaming the file while also copying it to another file folder. Such automated processes help to further streamline the production process by eliminating operator intervention, thereby reducing possibilities of delays and/or errors. All project participants can subscribe to an email list within DALiM DiALOGUE to be immediately notified of any changes to a job, such as availability of a new version of a document for review, the addition of a comment, or a change in approval status. “Dalim Software believes in building systems that automate the production process. It’s why we built a DALiM DiALOGUE job approval system that places the time-consuming responsibility of tracking job participants within the software,” remarks Gee Ranasinha, Dalim Software director of marketing. “It allows a printer, designer, or photographer to focus on revenue-building activities while at the same time, immediately and automatically, initiating the production workflow upon project approval.”
