Einstein Printing Receives FSC Certification

Press release from the issuing company

DALLAS, TX, February 8 -- Einstein Printing has earned the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain-of-Custody certification (#SW-COC-002801) from the Rainforest Alliance's SmartWood program. Einstein Printing joins an elite few of Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex printers able to provide paper with the FSC logo identifying that it comes from well-managed forests. As one of the 16 companies certified, and the only small-format specialist among the group, Einstein Printing can offer its customers an alternative to recycled paper and can make going green accessible and affordable. Einstein's attaining this certification supports the growing trend within the paper and printing industry of companies making more environmentally and socially responsible supply chain decisions, and extends this alternative opportunity to small-format printed products such as letterhead, envelopes, booklets, manuals and brochures.

"We've seen the migration of businesses seeking more ways to be environmentally savvy," shares Keith Einstein, president, Einstein Printing. "Our market-share is no different and they too appreciate the option of using paper that is certified 'environmentally friendly' through the entire paper production process. This certification now provides companies needing small-format products an affordable option."

The FSC is the global standard-setter in responsible forest management. Chain-of-Custody certification guarantees that wood that comes from certified, responsibly managed forestlands is tracked throughout the supply chain, from the forest to the consumer. Conscientious consumers can look for the FSC logo on wood products to know they are supporting forest management that protects biodiversity and supports local communities.

Einstein Printing clients that specify FSC certified paper stock for their printing work can proudly display the FSC logo on their printed piece and identify themselves as being FSC Compliant.

"The social climate is shifting and this certification assists our business with improved market access in an increasingly environmentally aware sector," said Einstien. "It also demonstrates that we take the environmental concerns of our customers and staff seriously."

According to the FSC, about 40 percent of all commercially traded timber is used to produce paper globally. And paper consumption is expected to grow by about 50 percent in the next few years. The U.S. is the biggest market for paper products globally, producing 90 million tons of paper and consuming 100 million tons of paper each year, according to the FSC.

The paper and printing industry have made big strides recently in focusing on responsible supply chain decisions. Companies such as Nordstrom, Inc.; Williams-Sonoma, Inc.; and Limited Brands (the parent company of Victoria's Secret) have all begun using FSC-certified paper in their catalogs and other printed materials. Also, the Rainforest Alliance worked with Scholastic Inc. on using FSC-certified paper in the initial U.S printing of the final Harry Potter book. At 22 million pounds, it was the largest single purchase of FSC-certified paper to date.
