EFI Debuts Next Generation Internet Applications for Print MIS Systems

Press release from the issuing company

Graph Expo, CHICAGO – Oct. 12, 2004 –EFI, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, is significantly upgrading its family of PrinterSite web-based products for print management customers. The only suite of Internet applications that is directly integrated to back-end business management systems, PrinterSite products work with EFI Hagen, Logic and PSI to extend functionality to customers, CSR’s  and field sales personnel via the Internet. EFI is introducing a new web job submission application, PrinterSite Exchange, which enables printing companies to easily deploy branded storefront web sites to let them transact business with customers over the Internet.  They are also announcing version 2.0 of PrinterSite Internal, a print sales force automation system, featuring an entirely redesigned interface and more than 100 new features and enhancements. EFI’s new PrinterSite Exchange brings printers closer to their customers by providing 24/7 customer service over the Internet. The application is an easier way for customers to submit jobs, request quotes, obtain real time prices, submit and proof content, and check on job status. PrinterSite Exchange also has full-featured e-commerce capabilities. PrinterSite Exchange is sold as a stand-alone product today, with integration toHagen, Logic and PSI planned for the first half of 2005. PrinterSite Internal provides field sales personnel and customer service representatives (CSR’s) with secure, direct access to submit quote requests and obtain job status data fromHagen, Logic and PSI. PrinterSite Internal helps companies create better, more accurate quotes, resulting in improved profitability for the printer and better service for the customer. Marc Olin, VP/GM of Commercial Print Systems at EFI, said: “With our new and upgraded PrinterSite offerings, we continue to fulfill our commitment to the industry for products which improve printer’s profitability by driving sales and reducing costs. Our customer’s sales staff will find the new PrinterSite Internal features provide even greater time savings and order simplification. PrinterSite Exchange fills a need that printers have asked for, allowing their customers to submit both content and job specifications online and have that information directly integrated into both their EFI MIS system as well as their workflow." PrinterSite Exchange Streamlines Job Submission and Workflow PrinterSite Exchange provides a powerful integration with EFI’s workflow and MIS solutions – the system creates an “end-to-end” content and commerce workflow from the desktop of the printer’s customer directly to EFI Fiery, Balanceand Micropresssolutions for digital printing and to EFI’s Hagen, Logic and PSI systems. First time job submission is simplified for both the printer and customer, with jobs submitted as settings-correct PDFs. The online catalog in PrinterSite Exchange makes frequently used documents easily accessible for ordering. Customers can see the status of their orders – when placed, when in production and when shipped – without playing telephone tag. EFI’s PrintMessenger PDF generating drivers, included standard with PrinterSite Exchange, can be installed on unlimited customer desktop workstations to send jobs.  This feature automatically adds a printer option to the customers desktop so that they can “print” to the printshop that provided them the driver. Selecting this option automatically creates a PDF file and delivers the file together with a job ticket to the plant. PDF delivery streamlines workflow for customer service representatives and prepress operators, by delivering settings-correct files that require virtually no operator intervention.  PrinterSite Internal Simplifies Quoting and Job Specifications PrinterSite Internal is currently licensed by more than 50 large commercial print operations, but the application is suitable for printing companies of all sizes. It provides the sales force (and CSR’s) with a link to the back-office, helping to eliminate telephone tag and enabling sales to spend more time in the field with customers. PrinterSite Internal simplifies and enhances the specifications process for print orders by eliminating faxing and double-entry, providing better quality input resulting in improved estimator productivity. Shipping in Q4, the major changes to version 2.0 will include a brand new user interface with a more productive workflow, quoting function enhancements, an interface to help salespeople organize their quotes better, and more customizable specification forms enabled by a host of Form Designer improvements. Many of the improvements to PrinterSite Internal 2.0 are the result of customer requests. Sandy Alexander is a commercial printer inNew Jerseythat has been a PrinterSite Internal customersince its inception. “PrinterSite has increased our productivity by 30 percent or more, and if I shut PrinterSite down from the sales force it would be disastrous,” said Marty Levinson, VP, director of estimating. “EFI has always listened to customer input and it shows – the latest version has a great new user interface, especially for organizing quotes, which will make the application even more valuable for our team in the field.”
