Xerox Wins Four Must See 'ems/Worth-a-Look Awards at Graph Expo
Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO--Oct. 10, 2004-- Reinforcing its reputation for technological innovation and excellence, Xerox Corporation received four "Must See 'ems" and "Worth-a-Look" awards at the Graph Expo printing exhibition.
The Must See 'ems and Worth-a-Look awards, sponsored by PrintCom Consulting Group, are presented to products and services that exemplify innovation in the graphic communications industry. The awards are presented to products on display at Graph Expo based on an independent evaluation of competitive offerings.
"The breadth of Xerox's digital printing products is a benchmark for 21st Century printers," said Bill Lamparter, president, PrintCom Consulting Group. "Xerox strives to develop products that are not only uniquely innovative, but also provide profitable business value. These awards recognize the company's digital printing technology leadership and its excellence in designing products that meet customer needs."
Xerox received Must See 'ems awards for the DocuColor 8000 Digital Press and the NuveraTM platform products, and was recognized with a Worth-a-Look distinction for its FreeFlowTM Digital Workflow Collection. The company also received honors in the first-ever Encore Must See 'ems awards competition with the flagship Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press. The Encore Must See 'ems designation recognizes past Must See 'ems recipients that are still best in class.
"Xerox's well-established iGen3 press received the Encore Must See 'ems award for its continuous and significant improvement since it entered the market," noted Lamparter. The Xerox iGen3 press received Must See 'ems recognition in 2001 and 2003 as well as a Worth-a-Look recognition in 2002.
The Must See 'em and Worth-a-Look awards are selected by a panel of print industry consultants and non-vendor related program participants. Descriptions of the Xerox technologies that were recognized with awards are as follows:
DocuColor 8000 Digital Press
The DocuColor 8000 Digital Press is Xerox's latest addition to its DocuColor family of products. Printing at 80 full-color pages per minute, the DocuColor 8000 offers a new level of performance and versatility between the 60 ppm DocuColor 6060 Digital Press and the 100 ppm Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press.
Nuvera platform products
The Nuvera platform of black-and-white digital production printers include the Nuvera 100 and 120 Digital Copier/Printers and the Nuvera 100 and 120 Digital Production Systems. The 100 and 120 models each produce monochrome output at 100 and 120 ppm respectively. Both products were designed to combine the benefits of digital with quality that complements offset for a variety of applications and environments.
FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection
The four new products in the FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection-- Process Manager, Makeready, Web Services and Print Manager--help production print providers improve productivity, reduce expenses, build better customer relationships and leverage existing technology investments. Process Manager allows for automated workflow pre-building; Makeready creates a central interface for prepress activities; Web Services provides an easy-to-use Web site for customer job ordering and management; and Print Manager offers integrated job ticketing and printer management for offset and digital devices.
"An important factor in FreeFlow being chosen for this award was its capability to facilitate printers choosing between having a job printed on a digital press or offset press," said Lamparter. "Taking a job ticket directly from JDF and printing it for a digital short-run job is a growing application in which digital complements offset in a commercial print environment."
Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press
The 100 page-per-minute Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press marries more than two decades of digital printing expertise with groundbreaking technological innovation. Since its introduction to the industry, iGen3 press owners started benefiting from a flexible and efficient technology that creates economical, full-color output with the look and feel of offset. More than 30 customers have printed a million pages or more on a single Xerox iGen3 press in a given month.
The award-winning Xerox products are on display at the Graph Expo Conference and Exhibition, Oct. 10-13, 2004, at Xerox booth #1431.
