Winter University 2005 at the Print Media Academy

September 27, 2004 -- Following the tremendous success of the first Winter University 2004 organized by the Print Media Academy (PMA) of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG in Dubai, next year will see the Winter University continued in Florida. International managers will meet up on February 5, 2005 in South Beach to reinforce their practical management expertise as regards business strategies, cutting-edge production processes and sales in print media businesses. Studying and working together encourages the development of networks linking print media managers from all over the world and paving the way for future exchanges of information and ideas. The program, which was developed in collaboration with renowned printing experts from the leading German universities, the University of Wuppertal, Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences and Ferris State University, Michigan, features a well-rounded range of themes. These include insights into growth opportunities, possibilities for boosting profitability, background information on using Management Information Systems (MIS), an introduction to financial analysis techniques for Return on Investment (ROI) planning, and liquidity management. Participants will also learn how to draw up business plans and benefit from insights into the latest marketing and case studies. "The Winter University provides managers in the print media industry with an exceptional opportunity to extend their expertise on an international level, to exchange experiences with others and to establish new valuable contacts", states Bernd Schopp, Head of the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg. Well-rounded program caters to a wide range of interests Alongside the business management-focussed content, the speakers at the Winter University 2005 will also provide a comprehensive update on cutting-edge printing technology. Participants will for example learn the advantages which can be gained from integrated workflow management systems in print media production and how they can fully exploit the potential of file formats such as PDF and JDF and optimized Print Color Management. Just as at drupa 2004, the subject of “networked printshops” is sure to fuel intensive discussion at the Winter University 2005. In addition, new materials will be showcased which represent a basis for developing innovative products enabling sustained differentiation from the competition. A stimulating program of activities will help participants recharge their batteries between classes, with team events and site visits to local printshops sure to provide a change of scenery and some fascinating insights. There will also be time in the evenings for s! ampling Miami’s special atmosphere, visiting attractions around the city, or enjoying the famed beaches. Following on from the Winter University, the Print Media Academy's Summer University will take place for the fourth time in Heidelberg in mid-July 2005. The Summer University traditionally focuses more on business management topics. Both the Winter University and the Summer University are aimed exclusively at management and production executives from the print media industry.
