CNA Adopts Adobe Intelligent Document Platform for Insurance Claims Processing

Press release from the issuing company

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Sept. 21, 2004-- Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced that CNA, a leading provider of property and casualty insurance, has selected the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform to automatically generate and distribute all business forms and letters required for initiating and processing claims. Using Adobe LiveCycle(TM) document services software, the solution will enable the rapid handling of business processes. The Adobe Intelligent Document Platform can accelerate data entry and processing and automatically generate highly customized forms and letters for all parties involved in claims processing, including clients, physicians, and other insurance companies. Employees will be able to easily find and use the appropriate forms. By grouping form templates in the system that are required for a specific type of claim, the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform will minimize the amount of time required to locate and complete the appropriate forms. In addition, the Adobe solution will accelerate form completion by pre-filling business forms and letters with customer and policy information from back-end systems. Employees will be able to quickly process and deliver a large number of similar forms, by retrieving previously filled forms and modifying the data for re-use. To further streamline claims processing, forms will be designed to automatically perform many functions, such as calculating costs or deductibles and validating information entered. Once forms are complete, they will be delivered automatically to various parties by fax, email, or in print. The claims processing solution will be deployed in an IBM WebSphere environment. Adobe LiveCycle software is optimized for the IBM WebSphere application, and provides Java APIs, uses XML for data interchange and supports web services allowing for easy integration into existing enterprise infrastructures. Adobe LiveCycle's support of these industry standards means organizations can deploy document services in today's Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
