Flint Ink Launches Progressive Color Media to Provide Color Management Workflow Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Ann Arbor, Mich. (September 7, 2004) - Flint Ink Corporation, the world’s largest privately-owned ink manufacturer, announces the launch of Progressive Color Media LLC, a new company providing a full range of workflow color management solutions integrating hardware, software and services. The company’s services will enable printers, graphic designers, publishers and brand owners to achieve fast and accurate color reproduction, increase efficiencies and improve brand integrity. “We recognized the opportunity to leverage Flint Ink’s expertise by providing customers with integrated color management products and services across the entire workflow,” says Dave Frescoln, president of Flint Ink Corporation. “The highly experienced Progressive Color Media team will help companies realize the business advantages inherent in color management technology.” Progressive Color Media was created to fill the gap that exists in workflows involving many participants. Currently, color management tools and services are focused on providing discrete solutions for specific production stages. Progressive Color Media’s services integrate and synchronize people, processes and technologies to optimize the full benefits of color management. Services include baseline assessment, solution development and design, implementation and on-going support. The company advises its customers on software and hardware selection, as well as optimizing utilization of existing equipment.  “Color management of today involves many participants, from printers to brand owners, working in multiple locations with different systems and technologies,” says Diane Watt, president, Progressive Color Media.  “Progressive Color Media helps customers simplify processes and harmonize disparate systems. As a result, customers can have greater confidence in the accuracy, reproducibility, and efficient production of printed results.”   Progressive Color Media’s strategic partnerships with color management software and hardware providers enable the company to offer a wide spectrum of products and services. The company’s unbiased approach offers an advantage over traditional color management solutions, which may be limited to products or services from one or two exclusive suppliers. “Progressive Color Media’s ability to offer a diverse and comprehensive array of products and services ensures that we are advising customers on the solutions that will meet their specific needs,” added Watt. Fully funded by Flint Ink, Progressive Color Media is leveraging the company’s strong market presence, industry partnerships, state-of-the-art research facility and printing resources to provide a full complement of color management integration services. Management Team Progressive Color Media has assembled a management team with extensive industry knowledge, broad technical expertise in pre-press and pressroom, and experience in bringing all facets of color management together. Diane Watt has been appointed president. She was previously vice president of Flint Ink’s Emerging Business Segments group, where she spearheaded the evaluation and commercialization of new business opportunities outside of traditional ink segments and processes. Watt has also held several other management positions at Flint Ink. Daniel Goodenow, the company’s director of sales and services, brings ten years of experience in the electronic imaging and printing industries. Prior to joining Progressive Color Media, Goodenow held management positions at Enovation Graphic Systems and Precision Color. As director of product development, Fay Sommer brings 25 years of experience in the printing industry. Sommer has an extensive background in research and development, with expertise in the areas of digital imaging, prepress and print optimization.
