Oce VarioPrint 2110 Delivers for US Mid-Production Market

Press release from the issuing company

BOCA RATON, FL – August 17, 2004 – Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, today announced the US general availability of its new Océ VarioPrint 2110 digital multifunctional system. Designed specifically for corporate and commercial print centers, the Océ VarioPrint 2110 system offers a wide range of advanced functionality including: tab printing and interposing from all four paper trays, oversize printing, mixed-stock processing, and the ability to combine analog and digital documents. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 system allows a print provider to seamlessly achieve maximum productivity with enough flexibility to accommodate the wide range of applications that today’s customers demand. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 system delivers exceptional image quality, reliability, ease of use, and throughput, even when handling short run complex jobs that mix analog and digital documents. The system performs at a rated speed of 105 prints or copies per minute, regardless of the media type or job complexity. Hardcopy originals can be scanned and converted to PDF or TIFF format by adding Océ Scan Logic? software. “Since its introduction at Drupa, the Océ VarioPrint 2110 has achieved success in a variety of markets in Europe, including education, government, insurance, digital print providers and commercial printers. We are pleased to announce general availability in the US in early September. Our strategy in the US will build on the European results by focusing on similar markets, as well as legal, financial services, quick printers, service bureaus, and book printers and publishers,” said Carl Joachim, vice president of marketing for Océ North America’s Digital Document Systems Division. “As the mid-production market continues to expand, we are responding with the Océ VarioPrint 2110, the solution most suited to the utmost versatility and robust power customers now require to excel. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 allows a print provider to deliver the highest quality digital output with consistency and flexibility unmatched in the market today.” Maximum Productivity, Maximum Uptime Powered by the Océ Smart Imager Controller, the Océ VarioPrint 2110 system is designed to run multiple tasks at the same time for unmatched print room productivity. The powerful controller will allow users to scan while printing, program while running, print while processing and load paper while running, enabling customers to meet production schedules and turnaround demands. Advanced queue management capabilities enable fast-paced CRD environments to seamlessly manage, prioritize and modify settings for resident production jobs. Standard paper input capacity of 4,600 sheets and on-the-fly paper loading enables long, productive unattended print runs. An intelligent ‘digital job factory’ keeps the system running at the rated speed of 105 images per minute, while concurrently scanning or programming incoming print/copy jobs, thus enabling 100 percent productivity. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 utilizes an advanced air separation and vacuum feed system, a short paper path, and the unique Océ Copy Press reprographic system to provide exceptional uptime, impressive image quality, and extremely reliable paper feeding, regardless of media types. A paper positioning module ensures that images are registered precisely (<.5mm) from image to image or back to front. This registration accuracy is essential when running multi-layer forms, jobs requiring accurate page number alignment, or jobs requiring accurate registration due to finishing requirements. Capacity and Finishing Capabilities The Océ VarioPrint 2110 is ideal for environments needing 150,000 to 350,000 images per month; however, the monthly duty cycle can go as high as one million impressions per month. Paper output has been dramatically increased to a hefty 4,000 sheets. For print providers requiring additional paper input capacity, a unique three-tray or four-tray “duo tray” option enables input capacities to be increased to 8,000 sheets or 10,200 sheets -- without adding an inch of footprint. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 system provides three-position stapling in its standard configuration. Towards the end of 2004, a number of online and inline finishing options will be commercially available. The BLM6100 booklet maker from SDD is designed for high production environments and provides a face trim with saddle stitching, optional loop staple and a square spine option. Additionally, the HVS6000 stacker from SDD can be implemented to provide high-capacity stacking of letter and tabloid sizes with a capacity of up to 5,000 sheets. The BLM6100 and HVS6000 can be implemented singularly or run in tandem, depending on customer requirements. In the first quarter of 2005, the integrated Booklet Maker (iBLM) will be introduced. Designed as a convenient, easy-to-use inline booklet maker, the iBLM will have the ability to produce up to a 20-page tabloid duplex booklet with saddle stitching with a push of a button and no additional footprint. The Value of Océ PRISMA Software With the Océ PRISMA? software family, production workflow is easily managed and directed automatically from submission to delivery for maximum productivity and resource utilization, even in multiplatform environments typically found in mid-production operations. From an IT perspective, Océ PRISMA can be applied across departments to leverage all Océ and non-Océ equipment. With it, customers gain capabilities such as web-based job flow, web access to a secure archive, enhanced document scanning and make ready, proofing, and more. WYSIWYG and device-independent document preparation reduces production costs and shortens delivery time. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 system works with Océ DocumentManager?, Océ DocSetter? and other Océ PRISMA workflow automation software to provide users with more control over document processes and applications. Combined with Océ´ Doc Works Exec? software, the Océ VarioPrint 2110 provides a single point of control for all production work to achieve increased workflow efficiencies of up to 40 percent. This powerful combination provides electronic job ticketing, so every job can be tracked, whether printing to an Océ or non-Océ device. The Océ VarioPrint 2110 system will be generally available in the US market on September 3, 2004, with a suggested retail price of $89,000.
