X-Rite Introduces IntelliPass Ink Preset System

Press release from the issuing company

Grandville, MI— August 17, 2004 —X-Rite today introduced IntelliPass, an accurate, adaptable, ink-preset solution designed to bridge prepress and pressroom to deliver accurate ink presets across multiple press brands. IntelliPass processes existing prepress bitmap data to calculate precise ink key preset values, enabling press operators to quickly review and make adjustments to all ink units prior to beginning print. “IntelliPass broadens X-Rite’s array of color-related workflow solutions for graphic arts professionals,” said Iain Trevor Pike, X-Rite’s Product Marketing Manager for IntelliPass. “Its ease of use, flexibility, and compatibility with multiple press brands, will help printers better manage ink settings, thus leading to a more efficient printing operation through makeready time and material reductions.” IntelliPass offers significant productivity advantages compared to setting ink keys manually. It is also more accurate than existing plate scanners in use on the market. IntelliPass digitally transfers preset bitmap data directly from the CTP or film RIP. This bitmap data is converted to press- and shop-specific metrics, through which ink keys are calculated and stored on smart media. Press operators then use the media to quickly implement the settings. IntelliPass can upgrade existing legacy equipment dated as early as the 1980’s. The solution is compatible with multiple press brands including: Heidelberg, MAN Roland, Komori, Mitsubishi, KBA, as well as additional manufacturers and third-party consoles. Shops with most any prepress workflow and multiple press brands can implement IntelliPass confidently. About X-Rite’s Streamlined Color Management Solutions X-Rite has developed a long-term market strategy for the graphic arts industry, addressing workflow challenges within each distinct step of the process: create, prepare, execute.
