Cathedral Corporation Earns SAS70 Level II Certification

Press release from the issuing company

Rome, N.Y. (October 15, 2008) Cathedral Corporation recently completed an external audit of controls related to its print and mail services, and has earned SAS70 Level II certification, the top rating an organization can receive. Cathedral is a national provider of transactional documents, highly personalized direct mail programs, and customer care communications.

The independent auditor's report focused on results of tests measuring operating effectiveness and the evaluation of internal controls related to document processing and presentment for the period of July 1, 2007 to January 31, 2008.  Included in the scope of the audit were Cathedral's print and mail services and the general controls that support these activities.

SAS70 is an acronym for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' (AICPA) Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70.  SAS70 defines the professional standards that auditors use to assess a service organization's internal controls and to issue a report of findings.  The auditor's report evaluates specific components of a company's operational procedures, including the control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication systems, and monitoring practices.

Engaging a third-party auditor to ensure that Cathedral Corporation's internal controls and processes comply with government standards demonstrates an organizational commitment to quality and security, and generally provides customers with a certain level of assurance regarding the controls that are maintained by the company's management.

"Many companies that outsource these types of business services increasingly require that certain controls for processing and protecting sensitive data are well established and firmly in place," explained Marianne Gaige, President and COO of Cathedral Corporation.  "This level of certification provides that assurance, not only to our existing customers, but also to those prospective companies that may be considering outsourcing.  Earning this certification is a rigorous process, but it's also a commitment that shows we hold ourselves to the highest standards when it comes to ensuring quality, performance and security for our customers."
