Bowne to Introduce New 8-K Self-Filing Solution

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK, Aug. 3 -- Bowne Financial Print, the world's largest financial printer, leading EDGAR filer and a division of Bowne & Co., Inc., will introduce on August 16th a new 8-K self-filing solution in advance of the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) new accelerated 8-K reporting requirements. Spurred by extensive dialog with clients struggling to meet these new rules, Bowne developed this new technology that will enable public companies and their law firms to quickly and easily take full control of their 8-K filings. "The addition of ten new 8-K disclosure items and the acceleration of filing deadlines will make it more challenging for companies to meet their SEC disclosure obligations," said Andrew Bor, a corporate finance partner with Perkins Coie LLP, a leading international law firm. "There were well over 50,000 filings last year and the SEC estimates that the number will almost double this year. Self-filing technologies will provide valuable tools for ensuring timely and accurate filings," Bor added. "While responsive to the 'real time issuer disclosure' mandate of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the SEC's shortening of 8-K filing deadlines to four business days after an event could create a considerable challenge for even the most prepared and diligent corporate governance departments. Bowne's self-filing solution appears to be the right approach in helping companies meet these tough new requirements," said Stephen D. Schultz, Director, Governance Programs, Shareholder.com, a leading provider of shareholder communications services. To address the formidable new filing requirements that go into effect August 23rd, Bowne 8-K Express(TM) is a secure, flexible and cost-effective self-filing solution that will enable companies and law firms to quickly, easily and securely research, create, manage, convert and self-file Form 8-Ks and associated amendments with the SEC. "At Bowne, we know how critical and challenging it is to keep up with rapid regulatory change. Bowne is committed to providing our clients with the tools they need, such as Bowne 8-K Express, to meet their compliance needs. In addition to providing best-in-class creation, management, conversion and filing capabilities, Bowne 8-K Express will include an innovative research module that will provide insight on the requirements from leading law firms and allow companies to search previously filed 8-Ks for precedent language. This leading edge product will be on the market a week before the SEC's new 8-K rules go into effect on August 23rd," said John Batt, Vice President of Marketing, Bowne Financial Print.
