ROCHESTER, N.Y.--July 30, 2004-- The judges overwhelmingly agreed that Xerox Corporation's iGen3 Digital Production Press is the leader in digital color printing and will have a significant impact on the industry in years to come. That's the finding of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, one of the world's leading centers for graphic communications research and education, which recently selected the Xerox iGen3 to receive its esteemed 2004 InterTech Technology Award. According to John Lind, director of research at GATF, the judges - an anonymous group of practicing industry experts and professionals who are independent of GATF - chose the iGen3 press from 33 entries and decided it is one of the most useful and significant technology advancements in graphic communications. The iGen3 was cited for its technological innovation, efficiencies and bottom-line results it brings to printing operations of all sizes. The application process required three endorsements that were provided by DME, Media Lithographics Inc. and Automated Graphic Systems Inc. Mike Pannagio, CEO of DME, a Florida-based marketing communications firm that has purchased three iGen3s, said "the iGen3 is the first digital color press that meets our stringent requirements for color image quality, printing and processing speeds, and costs that are reasonable for our customers and profitable for DME. "I fully believe that, decades from now, industry historians will recognize the introduction of the iGen3 press as the tipping point that swayed momentum to digital printing." The 100 page-per-minute Xerox iGen3 Digital Production Press marries more than two decades of digital printing expertise with groundbreaking technology innovation. Since its introduction in 2002, Xerox iGen3 owners have benefited from the result -- a flexible and efficient technology that creates economical, full-color output with the look and feel of offset. Previously, Xerox was recognized with InterTech Technology awards in 1978 for the Xerox 9700 laser printer, in 1993 for the DocuTech Production Publisher, and in 2003 for the Xerox SquareFold Booklet Maker.
