Cadmus Communications Launches Rich Media Solution for Digital Publications

Press release from the issuing company

RICHMOND, Va., July 29 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation today announced that it has released dPub, an interactive, multi-media digital publication offering. Cadmus' dPub increases the effectiveness of content by creating an engaging, rich media experience for readers. dPub maintains the look and layout of a printed publication while enabling publishers to provide value-added content for readers and advertisers. dPub provides easy-to-use navigation and search capabilities, and permits embedded audio, video and interactive linking to content, external advertising or other web sites. dPub uses Adobe Acrobat 6.0 and does not require additional software downloads or plug-ins. The portable digital publication provides readers with offline access to multimedia content and can be delivered through email, posted online, or delivered directly to the user's desktop through Cadmus' proprietary 3Path(TM) digital delivery system. "dPub is a publishing solution that combines the best features of both printed and online content," commented Hai Tran, Senior VP of Technology and Strategic Development. "We believe that dPub creates a digital publication with an end user experience that is portable, multi-media, interactive, searchable and leverages the benefits of a composed page. dPub offers publishers a new way to enhance their electronic versions to open up new opportunities for advertising sales and subscriptions." Steve Hare, President of Cadmus' Publisher Services Group, noted further, "At Cadmus, we are working to create new technologies that shorten schedules, reduce costs, enhance product development, and augment revenues for our publisher customers in the STM, special interest magazine and educational markets. As part of this ongoing strategic technology development initiative, we have recently introduced ArticleWorks(TM) to deliver secure PDF files and/or print-on-demand content and continue to demonstrate our commitment to innovation with new technology-enabled solutions such as dPub."
